I joined a site which is a proboards site. the board owner added my email address to her personal address book. she was sending out TONS of emails. I had almost 50 from her. all forwarded, religious stuff. she sent these emails to everyone in her address book.
so these people I don't even know, got my email address. people I didn't WANT to have it, got it.
is this a violation of proboards TOS ? I felt she shouldn't have done that.

When you join a board, there is an option to 'email all' in the admin panel, if you think they are sending too many, delete your account and the mails should stop. you could pm the admin to find out why you all get loads of emails, if other members feel the same, the admin might reduce them.

its not email from the site. but from the site owners personal email.
she copied all the memebrs emails & put those in her personal address book. she sends emails to everyone from her site & those who are not from her site.
when she sends them, everyone cane see your email address, which I had as hidden on her site.

When using the mass email feature from the site the emails will still appear to be sent from her personal address if I'm not mistaken. I would just delete your account there or perhaps block her email address through your email account settings.

The emails originate from her personal email. They just include a link to the board.
They have to be sent from somewhere. Do as california has suggested and block her email address.
Or better yet, why not just ask her to stop ?

her site wasn't for me. I didn't post, she deleted my account.
these emails still came. no link to her site was in them. I did block her email addy.
I want to know, isn't that against the rules to use your members email address like that ? putting them in your personal address book & sending out emails w/ a bunch of addresses.
she didn't even use BCC so everyone saw my email address, which I had hidden on her site. I emailed everyone & asked them to NOT keep me in their address books.
I don't "know" these people. I would never do that to my members.

I would have to re-read the privacy policy. Have you read that yet ?

Unfortunately, this isn't a TOS violation, sorry.
