Forum URL: 6teen.proboards25.comCan anyone explain why this forum and every other forum on the proboards25 address are unexcessable for my whole city? I first noticed this on my two home computers where all I got was a timeout message an no page displayed. So I went to my local college and checked on 4 different machines located in different sections of the campus. Then I emailed 3 friends in different locations around town to see if they could login on their computers. No dice. I was wondering if there is a problem with the server? (I checked the status on the Proboards website and it says its running fine) Or if its possible for proboards to block a whole IP range that covers an entire city? I would think that would be impossible. I really don't think I was banned from the forum I was active on but even if I was wouldn't I be able to look at other forums on server 25? If anyone has some info that would be great. Thanks.

Do they all use the same ISP? If so the ISP could be having a problem If you are using win 98, goto start -> run -> command in you are using win XP go start -> run cmd then type tracert 6teen.proboards25.comand paste all the output here, it should help track the problem

I am having the same problem with proboards25 groups. I can't even run a tracert. It just times out, it never even gets to the first jump!
This morning I contacted my isp server and they couldn't reach the sites either. Their HQ is 300+ miles from where I live.

Thanks Martyn.
I assumed it was my ISP last night after posting here, so I emailed tech support from Telus (my ISP) and I'll post their answer here.
I cannot get to proboards34 as well like the other guy with the same ISP is having.
Seems odd that an ISP would do this since Telus controls most of Western Canada. That means half a country may not be able to reach these two servers. That seems like a pretty big oopsy for them.

Those servers are still getting near enough normal hits, so chances are its jsut the 1 ISP

I'm on Telus too, as Wyatt is, only I can't even get to the first hop so there's nothing for me to send Telus re: tracert. I just tried a proboard34 group, and yup, no luck there either.
I IM'd with a Telus support person last night, but she said it was "ISP's 25 problem" I didn't like her attitude so came here & saw Wyatt's message. I'll try Telus again tomorrow when the weekend is over and maybe someone more helpful will be available.

Hey guys I installed the ecare prog and chatted with a useless peon on there, so I called telus made sure they looked deeper then "ya I can't connect to it, so it must be down" and was told they have sent the problem to a "higher source" to remedy. What this could mean I don't know but maybe soon I will be able to see my forums again. Oh yeah and promptly uninstalled Ecare, they move faster and better when they can hear you yelling at them

You could always tell them that the other quarter of a million hits the server got today must just be an illusion and its defiantly our fault because noone else in the world can access the server. I'm sure that would get an interesting response out of them But in all seriousness, the server is getting normal traffic, if there was a problem at this end we would have noticed a dip in hits, but its as up there as it normally is. The problem is defiantly limited to the 1 specific ISP

"Well then get the link they are using" Alt-F4 Twiddle is the one who I talked to on the phone with and said he would pass the problem on to the bigger honcho.

I just spent the last 42 minutes on the phone with a Telus representative that I'll name "Sahjeed". This guy did a pretty good job but hasn't fixed the problem, so I'm not getting my hopes up.
Regardless I supposedly need tracerts from some non Telus users to send them to a certain case ID I've been given. I'll be spending the next hour collecting these from friends.
I've found that its also CableRocket that is plagued with this time out error.
Personally I want to bang my head against a wall more then I want to do all this work to get Telus on the straightened arrow.
They were wondering if the DNS had been changed recently and I simply told them no. However I don't know the real answer since I don't work for Proboards. They did however acknowledge that there is a problem since even they couldn't connect from there, Montreal, oh well over 2000 KM from my place in Northern Alberta. So looks like its a nation wide problem.
I hope the other 2 guys on this thread have had good luck as well getting through to them. Sounds like they got dookiety help in their quest. All I can say is don't get discouraged guys, hopefully this will get resolved quickly.

You don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows.

Our board is on Server 25 (http://groovymom.proboards25.com/) and our Canadian members still can't access it. I've been emailing with one of our moderators (Canadian) who asked me to report this to Support:
"I spoke to a very nice Telus rep tonight and we tried all kinds of things over 1/2 hour. Can you pass this on to [PB Support] and see what they think? This is what the Telus dude thinks happened. Somehow, proboards must have changed something in their hardware perhaps? in the past week that affected those 2 boards. That change has resulted in Telus being unable to find the DNS server or the DNS no longer recognizes Telus' attempts to communicate. So when one of us keys in the URL address (words or the numerical addee for either of those proboards) it is no longer found. It's like they've become invisible to Telus. Telus has no control over other DNS' which means they can't fix the problem."
The two boards she's refering to are Servers 25 and 34.
Just wanted to update this, since we're very concerned about the issue. A large percentage of our membership is Canadian.
