Pretty sure (or pretty desperately hoping) that this sort of thing shouldn't be necessary now that the new system is in place. I see your forum is on the new server, so can I ask which searches aren't working for you/what can't be found?

ok.. so now Im befuddled. last night as I was testing the search bookmark plugin I was trying out all sorts of words that would come back as empty returns. but now today Im testing them again and they are working.

so I guess nevermind. the sphinx was just testing me last night for some reason...

Hmm, strange. I don't know if there were any server issues at the time, but let us know if it arises again and we'll take a closer look.

search by "wonder"

it should find this post

even if you search by [HASH]wonder it doesnt find it

occasionally it brings up a post with the word "wonderwall" in it however

and also occasionally it just returns every single post in that thread...

Ah, that explains it. "Wonder" is one of the search system's stop words -- that is, it's one of the common terms that are excluded from searches. Check 'em out:

search stopwords.txt (4.69 KB)

I believe we're using a generic list, so if you have an issue with the presence of any of those I can pass along your thoughts to Martyn.

I had no idea a list existed...

I dont personally have an issue with any words, but I would guess someone eventually might. mainly I was doing more testing with hashtag and just happened to be using some words I see are also on the list. Im hoping as people use hastags, they use keywords that dont exist on it.

Im working on hashtag some more so I can get the hashcloud plugin working as soon as Tim gets a feature request done.

As far as I know the list is new, to help ensure optimal performance.

Evidently not, because I can only bring up the post where you tested #wonderwall when I search "wonder", even though there are several areas where you said #wonder.
