Hi,
Today, when trying to save a post I edited, I encountered a small message saying "your message exceeds the maximum length allowed" and it did not saved. That was when viewing in preview mode. Then I switch to BB code and save. Seems it can and was saved successfully.
Should I worry? Yes the post is long. Right now I prefer that way. Is it something I can adjust in admin settings?
Thanks.

Hey Velociraptor, Can you link us to the post that was giving you the error initially?

I see, Velociraptor. Posts do indeed have a maximum character limit, which is 262144. I don't know why you would have been given the error message though, since the BBCode of the post you linked adds up to 243919 characters, around 20k characters under the limit. Perhaps you copy + pasted it from another source that might have had some additional information? When you switch from BBCode to Preview mode or vice versa, the parser makes some changes to any BBCode that might exist, including removing bits of code that are not supported.

Hi David Clark,
I edited it not by pasting something. I was just added/typed "560.000" in one of the table. That's it. Even click edit and save directly, without making any changes will show the same error to that post. I also tried using preview-BB code-preview again and save, same error.
The Post/thread itself was made using IE 9/10 before I reformat my laptop. Now using IE11.
There was an issue before that I reported here. So just now I tested it again using Mozilla, in case the same thing happening. And the result was no issue with Mozilla, I can save it directly using preview mode and I don't get any length error notification.
I did edit and save another short/medium length post before, using IE 11, no problem at all. So either the problem was on my end or the issue only shows up when editing a long post with IE11.
If u can test it (perhaps copy my post, I'm fine with that). That will be great.
Thanks

I am getting the error message when I attempt to edit the post in IE11, but not in Chrome. I'll ask our developers what's up on that one.

IE11 likes to insert random garbage into post HTML, and that's causing the length to go over the limit. In this case it's putting 'border-image: none;' in the style attribute, even though you won't see those things in the BBCode.
For now, you should try breaking your post up into two posts, and that will work around the problem.
I'll see if we can add a fix for this.
