I am curious if there is a way to transfer all members and posts from proboards to Mybb? It's not that I do not like proboards because I do, but Mybb offers some things that I really need that proboards doesn't offer. I was chatting with an online support agent from another website and they told me, "however I think that since you need to rebuild the website using different platform, it will be a bit difficult to have everything as it was" "as you have to sync the same database with the new application" "since all the post, etc are stored on the database"
If this question could be answered that would be amazing, a lot of people say it isn't possible but I really need this done. I just reached a milestone on my forums of 1000 posts and I don't want all those to go to waste.
Not saying I will transfer my forums any time soon because I will need money to do that, but in case I was ever to be able to switch it over how would I go about doing that?

Hey dfarmer2001, ProBoards forums cannot be transferred as there is no form of database exporting available to PB admins -- however, it is possible to move your forum to our premium Forums.net service, which does allow you to export your forum database for potential use elsewhere. However, when transferring from ProBoards to Forums.net, a 6 month period must elapse before you're able to make use of the database export feature. You can learn more by going to Admin > Upgrades > Forums.net from your admin panel. With that said, you mentioned that MyBB offers some things that ProBoards does not -- just wanted to mention that we're always here to do our best to help you achieve any specific goals, and if you'd like, you can tell us what you're shooting for and we may be able to assist.

Well see if you guys offered what I needed I would totally pay the $9.99 a month for forums.net, but I asked and I was told I would need to request a plugin for it, but it would take forever before it would get made. My goal would be to have a plugin that allows users to purchase memberships through paypal, and then it automatically adds some text underneath their name that says "VIP Member." I also want their username to change to the color orange or yellow, and then I want it to be able to automatically show then a members only forum that regular members can't see. Mybb offers that plugin, but Proboards don't. If there was a way that I could get their plugins HTML code and show you guys I could see if you could edit it and allow me to use it on my proboards?

I see, dfarmer2001. You were told right, it would have to be a plugin and it would be considerably complex. However, for Forums.net customers with specific needs with regards to coding, it's not out of the question that we might offer to put our devs to the task (for a prelimiminarily agreed-upon fee based on how long our dev lead thinks it'll take to create) and put it together for you. I can't say how much the fee might be without that input from them, though. If you happen to be interested in pursuing a quote for something like the that, we can have our dev team review the complexity of the concept and give you an early estimate based on that. You could create a private thread here for that. Otherwise, the answer to your transfer inquiry is in my above post.

Okay so I could request a quote on a plugin like that? Also can I have it to where no one else on proboards can have such a plugin? Like can I have it for my own plugin, and mine only?

Like I said, you can get the process started by creating a thread in the private board I linked above. A dev will likely have to chime in on it, so we might not be able to look the concept over immediately.
In terms of releasing the plugin to others, it would be your plugin to do with as you please. There wouldn't be any stipulation that prevents anyone else from coding a similar plugin on their own, though.

Okay I see. I really hope this is possible for them to create. If it is I will totally do forums.net.
