I do hope that I have posted in the correct place. I am requesting support.
I know Paint is an application. Is it a graphic software or is it just for editing images?

It's not really a graphic software. I mean you can use it to do minor things, but there isn't much you can do in word that compares to programs like Photoshop but it's main purpose to me has always been pretty lax simple drawing application to make mad line doodles.

@womenonly
If you are looking for a fairly nice and free graphic program, try Gimp.

Although Gimp doesn't come close to like Photoshop, they sure try hard to include a lot of things and for free, you can't beat that. Even though I have Photoshop, I only use two programs. Gimp and Xara. That's all I need to do just about anything. It does take a bit to figure things out on Gimp but once you learn it, it a pretty amazing product for free.

I use Paint.net (Not Paint) I like Gimp..but I find enough features in this for resizing photos..adding some effects, etc.. And it's easier to use. It's freeware like Gimp.

Aye, I used to use Paint.net and found it quite simple to use - GIMP is more powerful but doesn't have the most straightforward UI. My girlfriend wanted to do some basic manipulation for her blog and tried both, she got to grips with Paint.net pretty quickly.

What does UI stand for?

It stands for User Interface - so how the program looks and how things are laid out on the screen.

I find mspaint a great tool for your prt scr button and quick editing (before Windows Vista introduced the Snipping Tool). GIMP and Photoshop allow for more advanced editing.

I can also speak about Paint Tool SAI, but it's a paid thing. GIMP, I highly recommend, and several people swear by paint.net, so that's a good-sounding idea too. If you go for GIMP, try version 2.8 (see Robert's thread about that) rather than the newest version.

I did not want unknown things on my pc. I then tried GIMP. Same downloading thing happened.
I wanted to try one of them. Neither program was installed.
