Hi there! In the upper left hand corner of the forum some members keep seeing this weird black box. It pops up like an advertisement and appears to have a "play button" in it. But if you scroll over it, it goes away. It isn't there all the time, it happened for about 30 minutes the other day to some members and then we didn't see it again until today. We have advertisements disabled on our site and none of the other advertisements are showing up. I am using adblock and it still shows up for me. Any ideas what it is or what could be causing it? Here is a picture of it.

Hi, Amethyst. Do you have a link to the forum in question? Also, please disable your ad blocker on ProBoards. The only reason our forums are able to remain free is due to ad revenue. We do not display instrusive ads that play sound or pop up over the page's content. The arrow in your screenshot is actually from the navigation tree, not a play button.

Sorry about that, I thought I included the link in the first post. Here it is webkinztown.ca/ I didn't realize it was from the navigation. To me, it looked like a video was wanting to play. Whatever it is goes away if you go to scroll over it.

Can you let us know the next time it shows up on your end or on a user's end?
I can't seem to get it to show here.

If you or any of your users are using Google Chrome as your browser, can you right-click the black square (preferably the part of it that isn't showing a white arrow) and select Inspect Element the next time you see it? Once the console pops up take a screenshot of the console and post it as an attachment in your next reply to this thread. Hopefully seeing the source of the HTML that produces it will help better determine what it is.

I clicked away from the white arrow, and this is what it gave me under inspect element.

As a more isolated, but related issue I had a member PM me a screen shot of the blackbox showing up at the bottom of the forum as well. However, I think this is the only person that has happened to as most people see the black box at the top of the forum (above).

Hi Amethyst, While Brian wasn't able to re-create the issue you're experiencing, I was able to make it come up on my computer using Chrome. One thing I noticed, however, is that the issue appeared to have gone away with the Yootil plugin disabled. Would you be able to temporarily disable that plugin and see if you notice the back box anymore with that disabled?

Would you be able to temporarily disable that plugin and see if you notice the back box anymore with that disabled? Thank you so much for your response. I can try doing that. If you disable it and are using a plugin that requires the plugin, will that mess anything up? Or should all plugins that require it be disabled during the test period too?

It shouldn't mess anything up, but the plugins that require Yootil will not function during that time. So you could disable those too if you want to be safe, as the results should be the same either way

I spoke with the Owner of the forum and she does like the idea of disabling Yootil (even if just for a little while) since some of our plugins run on it. It understand her concern. Do you think it would be best to speak with the developer of the plugin and see if they have any advice?

That wouldn't be a bad idea. They are most intimate with the code, so will be best equipped to help you.
