Actually, I found that it doesn't work for members. I believe the problem is in the placement of $[user.id].
Thanks to a recommendation from My Display Name, I have just used the following and am waiting for someone to confirm it for me:
Notifications|http://weightlosssurgery.proboards.com/user/$[user.id]/notifications/|_self
It places the $[user.id] within the url replacing the /1/ that made it only work for me.

I just checked it from the perspective of a random member on your forum and the Notifications dropdown worked to bring me to their notifications page.

YAY! You are my hero once again!
So to summarize for anyone experiencing the same problem. This is what you need to use in the Drop Down Nav plugin to make it work for everyone on your board:
Notifications|http://weightlosssurgery.proboards.com/user/$[user.id]/notifications/|_self
I imagine that to use it for other functions under your profile, you just substitute Notifications with the title of the function that you want to drop down.
