Forum URL: startradersrpg.proboards.com/Hi! There seems to be a recent change in policy in that when a forum exceeds space, now all of the images that are within the original allotted space can no longer be downloaded. All images and attackments seem to respond with: Oops, there was an error! This forum has exceeded its attachment space limit. Such as: Read more: startradersrpg.proboards.com/attachment/download/138#ixzz3a1qxDH7mThis change in policy has caused a lot of consternation among my users and guests. Is it possible to revert this change so that we can continue to use the attachments that were uploaded into valid space? Thanks! Andrew

I think that you have to do one of two things to fix it.
1. Delete old attachments until you're under the limit. - or - 2. Purchase more storage space.

Hi, fallend. We've added a task to fix this particular scenario, but for now you can delete an older attachment to reinstate the ability to view attachments. You can still view all of your attachments in Upgrades > File Storage by clicking on the Manage button. The links on the following page still allow you to view them in case you wish to back them up before deleting them.

Brian / moonbeam - thanks for the info! The ability for the admin's to see the images is great, but we are getting many requests / complaints a day from the public about images and resources that are no longer available that were in previous months. We can't possibly keep up with the customer support requests. I will look forward to the fix!

I am continuing to get many posts and emails about this on our forum. Is there any idea when the task might be completed that I could share with my users?

I'm going to guess that it's not high on the list, but only an admin can say. In the meantime, can you not purchase more storage space or delete some old attachment?

I don't currently have an estimate for when this task will be worked on. My apologies.

Just a note as to why 'buy more space' or 'delete some attachments' will not work for us. startradersrpg is a board about computer games. People post screenshots. Lots of them. And people post fan art. And people who just like posting images they find on the internet that they think are interesting post them, a lot. We've been at quota for attachments for _years_. Now everybody on the board has to host their images some place else. When new people arrive, they try to use the proboard attachment feature, and it doesn't work because we are over quota, and we teach them all about hosting images some place else and the img bb code and how to use it.
Deleting attachments or buying more space would result in us being under quota. Which we don't want. Because all that would do is mean that people go back to using attachments, because they didn't know any better, until we ran out again. This is a 'drinking out of the firehose time' problem -- the administrators of the board -- people like me and fallen -- could do nothing but rehost images all day long and the users would _still_ generate them faster than we could move them, make new img links, check that it all worked, etc. etc. And, of course, I don't want fallen doing this at all. I want him to spend his time making new updates of the games we all love.
So you see the problem. I just thought I would explain it in a longer fashion.
Thank you for listening.

It sounds like a better solution to your problem would be to outright disable the attachment system then, which is completely possible to do on the attachment management page.
