is there a way i can prevent users from changing their OWN display groups? Admins can still do that, but I don't want members to be able to do that.

Setting all groups to "private" or "petition" prevents regular members from changing groups

If they are in Multiple groups though (as most of them will be), I don't want them to be able to change their "display group" in that option of the profile.

The only way to stop this would be to make those groups "Hidden". There's no other way at the moment to prevent them changing display groups Dave

The groups are private groups lol all of them but if a user is in multiple groups regardless of the fact they are private they can still edit which group they want to display.

Hi Teg, I modified a version of Tim Camara code found here that should remove the display group option on the edit profile page. Paste the following in the global header: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function(){ if(pb.data('route').name == "edit_user_settings") { $('.display-group-id').hide() // Hides select menu .prev().hide() // Hides description .prev().hide() // Hides title .prev().hide().prev().hide();// Hides <br /> tags } }); </script>See if that does what you're wanting

I will try it in a minute. Will that do that for admins too? Or just everyone else?

The one I provided will remove it for everyone. Tim's original code leaves the option available for staff members though.

To change user's display group, you can remove them from all groups and then re-add them, making sure that the first group you add them to is the one you want to show as the display group, Teg. There's no direct way to change their display group but this trick allows it. If you're using the code provided above to hide the dropdown that allows users to be able to change it, they'll be stuck in the display group you set this way.
