Is there no code for the header or footer that would point to the target image being used in each theme? I believe what you are looking for is in the support thread for the plugin: support.proboards.com/thread/571335/hot-topicsThere is code there for the forum wrapper to make the change for each theme. Hope that helps!

Honestly I'm not too thrilled about this. now mobile users can't see it, I think a better thing would have to just have it turned off by default, but still allowing a person to switch it on from the forum's admin panel. or at least give us more options in the plugin ( to time restrict a thread for hot topic and stuff like that )

@theophaniatcf , thank you. That will help since I do have a lot of themes and each has customized icons.
But what a lot of work for something that was written in and served a good purpose that is truly needed and wanted on many forums.

Dear Brian and Tim Camara I have a huge issue with this. I PAY for two forums.net accounts and just taking away features without any warning or advance is NOT the customer service that I am come to expect from my forums.net paid account. Whether someone there thinks its an "arbitrary" feature does not change the fact that is was a feature that was included when I purchased my forums. The option to remove it, especially for us who pay for membership, should have been optional or at the very least something to replace it. This is no different than paying for a certain numbers of perks on any paid service and one of those perks being taken away with no advance or notice. Its just not good customer service and approaching rude. I understand that from your POV you develop certain opinions on things from a technical POV but just arbitrarily removing something without contacting us first or researching with your paid customers makes no bloody sense. Please consider this for the future. ~ Disgruntled Customer

I agree. Those who didn't find it necessary could have always added a qualifying post count that would never have been achieved and the icon never used.
But for many of us, it is a staple and not the sign of an outdated software. And it's even harder on those who have customized their icons for each theme.
I am still blue!

I'm also quite unhappy about this. Our members liked the hot topic folder icon. I can't speak for any other forum, obviously, but no one on ours "bumps" threads, and any post containing nothing but the word "bump" would be deleted by a staff member anyway.
I've now had to use one of our 40 plugins to put back a "feature" that used to be offered by default. Not cool! Not to mention that our members who view the forum on a smart phone now won't see the hot topic icon.
I know nothing about coding and programming, but it seems to me that if the hot topic folder was a problem for some, then we should have been given the option of switching the icon on or off as part of our forum settings. Either that, or anyone who didn't want the icon on their forum could have set the number of replies to 999 (or any really high number), as already suggested by another poster.
I feel like I was forced to "waste" one precious plugin space.

I completely understand where you're coming from but you also have to consider our perspective: We're simply not going to contact every one of our customers who pay for our software every time we want to make a change to it. Sometimes we need to make a decision about what is best for the direction of our software and sometimes that means removing features that are redundant, pointless, outdated, unused, or that we feel simply didn't live up to our standards. We need to learn to be okay with the fact that some people are going to hate that decision and maybe that means that they won't use our product anymore. We have to learn to be okay with that. Now ideally the changes we make will improve the overall experience and we'll see an explosion of new users and growth. We always want to be making ProBoards and Forums.net the best software that it can be with a clear goal of what it should be helping our users achieve. We can't be shackled to maintaining a huge feature set just because there's a small percentage of our user base that would be upset because we remove a minor feature that receives less than 0.00000000001% of our daily traffic. Big and wonderful changes are coming to ProBoards and Forums.net in the coming months and I think you'll all be extremely pleased with what we have to show you. Hold tight with us and I think we'll blow you away. Ninja Edit: I can also mention that we've talked about FDN customers getting "early access" to upcoming changes and making "Official" plugins not count towards your plugin total. Both of these would also help address concerns raised in this thread!

I feel like I was forced to "waste" one precious plugin space. I can make a version of it that will work in your headers. The plugin was the fastest method of distribution and the easiest way to allow users to customize it.

Brian , I would like a version for the header, too please, if possible. I made that request upthread. And I've also posted on your plugin board. For our forum, this really is a big deal in several ways. Anything you can do to help, would be very much appreciated.

Can something be done for mobile users? I have received a lot of complaints from our mobile forum users today. This was a feature that apparently really helped our mobile users.

I'm afraid this wouldn't be possible at this time. Sorry. When the new mobile version of the forum is released this will be possible, but even if the plugin were to run on the existing version of the mobile view there would be no reply counts for it to reference so it wouldn't be able to do its thing.
