Forum URL: losingitafter50.freeforums.net/I had a member complain today that even though she has her email notifications set to Never, she is getting e-mails when new threads are started. I, too, have that set to Never, and have occasionally recently been getting them too. I also notice that sometimes when I get a personal message, the e-mail notification is normal (I get notified via e-mail). But other times, instead of it saying, "You have new messages", it says "You have new Notifications". That just recently started happening. Is there some glitch going on?

Hi Could you link to the member that this is happening to, so the admins can take a look.

www.oatcakefanzine.proboards.comWe're also getting reports of members being sent email notifications having set their notifications to never send in their profile.

Hi, m2marsh. Can you let us know if the users that set their New Thread notifications to Never still receive email notifications the next time they roll around? Since this is set to weekly by default there may not be any results until the coming Sunday. I believe the way it works is that any new threads created before you turn off the notification are already queued to be sent out in an email, but any threads created after you've turned off the notification are ignored. britannia, I read through the thread on your forum. You can link your users to this post to reassure them that this would be entirely on us. While we indeed announced we'd be rolling out new email notification options they've been silently added to new groups of forums on our service each week so there was no indication of the exact date your forum would be receiving the new feature.

Will do Brian. However, the one member that is complaining claims that hers has always been set to never and she didn't change it. I can't really see that even as an admin as I don't have access to that part of her profile. But I will pass this along to her, and make special note if either she or I receive notifications again next week. Thank you!

Do you know how long you've had the New Threads and New Posts notifications available on your forum?

No, sorry. I think I started getting those extra notifications maybe 3 weeks ago? They didn't bother me, so I didn't look into it until a member complained today.

The same thing has just happened to me today for vote-2012.proboards.com/ which is the only forum I'm a member of. I certainly haven't changed any settings.

That's also happened with me. It's not consistent, but it does happen on this forum.

Just now got an e-mail that said "You have new forum notifications", but it was just a PM. Usually the PM notifications say, "You have new messages". Same thing I reported yesterday, but still happening. I've always had the notification set to Instant for e-mail on PMs. I am an admin at the top post forum (if that matters).

No -- just one PM noted.
"Hi m2marsh! You have new forum notifications. You received a new PM in Debbie."
