Forum URL: onlythelonely.boards.net/Hi! I'm trying to get to the root of why my Photobucket images are not showing up on my forum. This has been an ongoing problem for a few weeks and seems to be getting worse. I've changed my browswer from Firefox to Google Chrome, cleared my history, cleared my caches, addons, consulted the Photobucket Help section. I have a Plus account with Photobucket. I'm wondering where the root of this problem lies. Photobucket images that were showing up are now not showing. i.e. My Signature, Global header, Posts, etc. Lots of people, besides here, have offered advice, but I can't seem to get to the root of what's going on. Help appreciated. Edit: This applies to not just my forum, but all the other Proboards forums where I am a member. I've left messages for some other members to give me feedback as to whether they can see the images or not. So far i have not heard from them.

When it comes to things like images not showing, especially if they have previously shown, it is normally down to the host of the image. Looking at the image in your signature, the link is: http://i514./t350/Tadpole1_bucket/Smilies/Have%20a%20Nice%20Day%20552%20X%2082%2050_zpsb6gufhpd.gif~original That is the direct link to the image, that photobucket are providing, but it doesn't show anything. This would probably be the case for all of the images you are having the same problem with. If you remove the ~original from the end, it will show, but if photobucket are providing the url with the ~original on it, then if you insert that into img tags, no image will currently show. I can only advise contacting photobucket regarding this, especially if you are paying for their service.

Thank you for that, Craig. It certainly is annoying that Photobucket do have that "~original" on the end of their urls. I do remove it from my smilie drop-down list because of the extra space it takes up. Will check these urls again regarding the images I've just mentioned and follow your advice. Edit: You hit the nail on the head, first time, Craig. I sorted out my signature and Global Header and, by removing the offending "~original" from the url, the image began to show again. The interesting thing is these images are showing properly for months and suddenly they stop showing because of this ending to the url. I will definitely have to find out what is behind this from Photobucket. You've saved me a lot of time and effort, Craig. Many thanks!

I would say most likely Photobucket is unaware of the ~original problem causing issues! It might have just been a minor unrelated change that broke it (as I can speak from experience with similar problems).

I don't know what's going on with them, Michael. Certainly this "~original problem" is not new. I've been deleting it off my smilie urls for years. Then I kinda stopped - and that's what has left me open to what has transpired lately. The Photobucket urls, I find, are very long, compared to imgur. It would be a help if they could find a way to shorten them.

That is really unfortunate that it is presenting a problem.

whisker , I use Photobucket on all of my themes without issue (unless they are doing maintenance which does cause them to go MIA for a bit).
Their direct link should be used. And I've never had ~original placed on any of my thousands of images and photos. It's certainly not the standard. I would put in a support ticket and find out why that's happening. Photobucket is very responsive.
Also, you are using their privacy setting that allows them to add a scramble at the end of the link which doesn't always fit when you're using the images on a public setting.
I don't permit that feature to be used.
For example ~ http://i514./t350/Tadpole1_bucket/Greetings/Spring%20Is%20Here%20356%20X%2062_zpsdjed3nuz.png~original
The added "zpsdjed3nuz" is an optional privacy setting you've ticked in your settings to allow it to be added. Edit: I did some searching and it sounds like at some point, you may have checked the "Link to original size" option. Thanks ♥ ℒʊ√ ♥ for all of that. The last time I've been onto Photobucket was 3 years ago, according to my account. At that time I was starting to make my own themes and they had a limit of 1200px width, that they would allow. After that I went Pro. Before that, I had found that someone was following me and taking photos that I had taken with my camera, and using them for their own purposes. That was when I went Private. Everything is private now. That's probably overkill. Maybe I can have some albums Public. Certainly the length of Pbucket's urls is annoying, to say the least, especially when loading up my smilie drop-down list. At this stage, it is taking no more, purely because of the length of the urls having used up all the free space. I had been systematically changing them over to imgur, but now have to change back to Photobucket. What a nuisance! Thanks, Everybody, for your help.

Maybe! We were recommended Photobucketby Proboards. Either way, it's a lot of work, changing things around.

They always have been, but that does't interfere with the images displaying on any public arena I place them on.
It's the added verbiage that you are allowing them to place at the end of your link that often causes issues. I don't have that feature enabled for that very reason. It's not necessary for albums to be private. And it makes the links longer and much more cumbersome.
My Photobucket links are fine. They're very concise. Length is determined by your user name, album names and the names you give the images, since that is all included in the link URL.
Here's a portion of my smilie dropdown links ~
As far as images not exceeding 1200 pixels, I wouldn't know since I never have a need for anything to exceed that limit.
Good luck.
