Forum URL: (private) Forum URL: ourbooksandchat.proboards.com/I am having an issue with two forums that I frequent -one I used to own and here in the General Topic area. I don't know if this is going on in any other place in Proboards Support. This does not seem to be an issue with the forum that I do own (see addy above) When I respond to someone by quoting them I am finding that what I type is being inserted into the quoted space instead of the new area. If no one else has mentioned this issue, could it be something I am doing incorrectly? If so what?

Hi, 📚 Dianne 📚. You should only experience this issue if you either click inside the quoting area before typing or if the first key you press is Backspace, since that eliminates the new line after the quote. There should never be an instance where the new line after the quote doesn't exist upon first opening the posting page.

And BTW it just happened to me again with this post, and I am not pressing backspace.

Chrome - I don't use anything else anymore.
I've just noticed is that the cursor is outside of the quotation box until I hit Shift then the cursor moves into the quoted portion. I noticed this as I was replying to someone in GT.

It happened again while answering you -the first time I try to reply, the reply starts in the last quotation box, once I've hit the shift key. I delete whatever I have typed and start again and my reply goes where it is supposed to be. To answer your question --- yes I have to click on the reply area, however, it is (or seems to be) that once I hit the shift key to capitalize is where the issue starts.

A laptop that is set up as a desktop with a wireless keyboard, mouse and a large screen moniter. *sigh* If it is only happening to me then I wouldn't run myself ragged trying to find out what is wrong. On one of the forums, I think others are having the same problems they just aren't noticing it, so aren't commenting on it.

📚 Dianne 📚, I've found it happening to me as well, BUT I've done one of the things that Brian mentioned; or I've been on a laptop where resting palms on it sometimes interferes with the mouse/tracking (granted not the most top of the line laptop). Maybe try a different computer, or just the keyboard on the laptop, or a different keyboard connected to the laptop... just to test the consistency of it happening.

No hands on the keyboard - just a simple click. I click quote and type - my reply is inside of the quoted area. No hands on the keyboard - just a simple click. See above in the quoted box, that is what happens if I don't move my cursor a second time and click again. My laptop is to the side of me, I cannot lean on it in any way.
