Recently had few members that had left and rejoin my forum, and ask if can have old accounts back. Or delete account, regret it and need to remake it. It now resulted in quiet a few account on my forum with similar or the same names all with the characters post disjointed, kinda looks messy to see a account both seems active and deleted at the same time lol and have to do awkward ways to get there profile and things back to them. I see this is not feature but remember it used to be, was wondering if could be option in v6? V4 I remember was so on sign up, same name would rejoin post to that account. Know v5 uses numbers but wonder if some admin option could made so chosen posts are linked to an account, either as person left and rejoin or someone else is taken over a canon character. Would help I think RP forums a lot

I have marked this as a feature request, but if it was to be added, i think it would only be possible with current accounts, and not deleted accounts. It would have to be able to be verified that the account(s) are owned by the same person.

While I can’t speak to it being a feature request I wanted to make sure you knew it wasn’t posts being “merged” in v4.
Because v4 only used usernames, which were not unique identifiers (in other words, as long as the username wasn’t actively in-use anyone could register with that name), all post data was associated with that username. So, it wasn’t so much that the posts were merged to the new account but the username went from inactive to active thereby reassociating the posts with an active user account. The only limit was that they would be unable to edit any posts prior to the account’s registration date.
This, as you might be able to imagine, resulted in quite a bit of impersonation when people deleted their accounts. I can’t say if this was the only reason that PB switched to a user ID system but it at the very least contributed.
I do agree tho that it would be nice to have an optional account / post merge if it’s possible.

Yeah, understand that. maybe merge is bad choice of word just couldn't think of better one to explain myself
