Forum URL: beyondredemption2019.freeforums.netI tried to purchase the Ad-Free, but my card was denied because it said my card was a pre-paid card. It's not. It is a Mastercard Direct Express card. My social security payment is put on this card on the 1st of each month and there is no way to add funds to the card. Who do I need to contact to explain this?

Hi I have never heard of that card before, but on the FAQ page for the card it does state that it is a pre-paid debit card. Unfortunately, the payment system does not accept prepaid cards, and i don't know if this is something which will change. I will tag the staff in to this topic, who may be able to comment further, or provide an official response. They are in the office from 17:00 GMT, if i could invite you to check back shortly after that time. Craig

What's the thinking behind refusing pre paid cards? If there's no money in a simple bank account (no overdraft allowed) then a payment won't go through either. Both prepaid and bank cards may not have the funds.

The MasterCard Direct Express Card is a prepaid debit card. You can't add funds to the card, but it's still prepaid by the entity who sent you the card. I cannot speak for Proboards with certainty, but their point of sale system may not be able to accept this type of card. All credit cards start with a certain numerical prefix. Every type of card can be identified by its first few numbers. Not all cards are processed the same. For example, my company pays different fees based on what types of cards we process. This is why some stores won't take Discover cards or AMEX cards. I hope that one of the awesome admins will be able to offer you additional and official clarification. They will be in the office in a few hours. I also wish you the best of luck. Maybe they can offer you some insight into additional payment options which may apply to you. Best wishes.

High processing fees would be a good reason. Good point.

Additionally vanwoman, PB had numerous issues accepting prepaid cards in the past that wound up costing them money in lack of funds; yes, a bank card may also suffer from this but generally speaking banks will overdraft their users and still pay the vendor — prepaid cards do not.
