Forum URL: justfriends.freeforums.net/One of our board members gets the Not Secure message across the top of the JustFriends page. What does this mean. I don't get that same message.

You don't get the same message because you're using a different browser. But it's nothing to be concerned about. It just means that the data being transferred on that page isn't encrypted (http). This is true of most pages on ProBoards. But wherever encryption is needed, the pages (such as login, registration, and purchases, are encrypted (https).

Is there some reason one of my members should suddenly get this? They have been on the forum since it opened, on the same computer, for a year?

Is there some reason one of my members should suddenly get this? They have been on the forum since it opened, on the same computer, for a year? It isn't sudden. This has been a notification browsers have been putting up for a while now (at least several months). More likely is that they finally noticed it, or changed something that made it more visible to them.

I've now bookmarked that and will refer to it if this question arises again. š

Is there some reason one of my members should suddenly get this? They have been on the forum since it opened, on the same computer, for a year? The specific message from the OPās screenshot was only added to Safari last month on both iOS 12.2 and macOS 10.14.4. If your member has been using an iPhone, iPad, or Mac, that would explain the sudden appearance. A similar message existed in iOS 11.3 and macOS 10.13.4, but it only appeared on non-HTTPS pages that prompted users for passwords or credit card information, while the current message appears on all non-HTTPS pages. Since ProBoardsā login is handled using HTTPS, a user would never have seen the prior message. If the member was using a different browser or a different platform, they either didnāt notice the insecure notification of that particular browser or theyāve been really slow to update.
