I love horror comics. The old EC comics, House of Mystery, Secrets of Haunted House, Ghosts. Never really got into any super hero type stuff, but loved the horror ones!

I love horror comics. The old EC comics I remember being on holiday and browsing around various newsagents [in Britain]. I'd always buy the EC comics from the rotating stand, where you could buy the X-Ray Specs on the back page I must have been 10-11 at the time...around the early to mid 70s I wish I'd kept them all now...

My daughter gave me all the books to read, but I can't do it....and I don't know why? They don't appeal to me, yet my daughter says I'll love them!

My daughter gave me all the books to read, but I can't do it....and I don't know why? They don't appeal to me, yet my daughter says I'll love them! Have you seen the movies? I have this series queued up on my Kindle. I purposely held of trying to read these while the movies were being released as I didn't want to compare the two. Since the movies finished, I did read the first book and it was a enjoyable read and I could easily superimpose the imagery of the movie to the book. I do know as the books progressed there was more that didn't make it to the big screen. I look forward to reading the rest of the books for the parts not included. Kind of like an extended director's cut of the movies Conversely, since I read the Lord of the Rings in high school (obviously prior to the Peter Jackson's films), throughout watching the trilogy I kept thinking about all the parts I liked in the books that never made it to the films.

I've seen one, I think Scott. Like you, I've also read Lord of the Rings and was desperate to see the movies, but only watched the first one...I was disappointed that many of the characters and parts didn't make it as well Personally, I think it would have been better in animated form. The old animation format, not CGI I think the reason why the HP books don't appeal to me is that maybe they're a bit childish for me now? I know I would have loved them as a child and in my early teens. Maybe I'm not being fair. Maybe they are quite adult. Until I give them a chance, I won't know!

After that, it was just another hero vs villain story in my opinion. Same with the movies.

To Be The Man by Ric Flair.
Second time reading it, great behind the scenes look at a guy who let the business take him over. Great performer, not so great husband or dad. The ESPN show covered some of it, but this gets deeper into his career. Good read.

I liked the 4th one best because it had a mix of things and I liked the idea of the competition. Other than that, the rest were just eh. I grew up on better fantasy novels so these hold no real appeal for me.

I just finished the Anne Bishop Black Jewels series a mix of horror, myth and fantasy set in the realms of Hell. You really need a strong stomach to read this series and a vivid imagination! link

I decided against my Russian literature theme after seeing a post of Knightly Celt's. Now I'm reading some Louis L'Amour.

Just finished reading the latest J D Robb to make it to paperback-I can no longer afford the hard-copies. Thank goodness I was able to snag an ARC for the one that comes out in February. Has anyone ever read the Kate Shugak series? link
