Hello, In the last few days forum members are seeing extremely large ads at the top of all forum pages. I've had the forum for almost 4 years and never experienced this. I'm using an iPhone and when I go to my home page, almost half the screen is an ad. Do you know what's changed that these ads boxes are now appearing so big? What can I do to reduce the size or eliminate them? On laptops it's normal size. Forum URL: lastword.freeforums.net/

Hi,
This is the same ad-size as the ad at the bottom of the mobile view, not a large or new ad-size.
The size cannot be changed but you can purchase PB+ which is personal ad-free for every account linked to your ProBoards global account.

I see the large ad at the bottom of the forum however it's never been that large at the top. It only started appearing larger a few days ago. I'm just confused about why it's now larger?

Thanks for taking the time to explain this to me. I read your post you linked and it says that the ad sizes are smaller. I took a screenshot of how the front of the forum looks on cell phone. As you can see this ad takes up most of the screen. It was not like that before so that's why I'm confused by your answers that the new ad roll out features smaller ads. On my particular forum the ads on mobile are not smaller, they are much larger. I don't have a problem paying for ad free after almost 4 years I am just questioning what happened all of a sudden? I thought it might be connected to less page views or something?

Hi,
The ad you're seeing is one of our existing ad-sizes in a new location. Previously this size only appeared at the bottom of the mobile page and at the bottom of the desktop page. All of the new advertisements are indeed smaller than the existing ads.

All of the new advertisements are indeed smaller than the existing ads. With all due respect, that’s an incredibly weasel-y way of trying to frame this. Come on. An ad of that size in that placement is bad enough. Unacceptable, some might argue. But don’t insult the users by trying to twist the logic and argue semantics on what constitutes a new ad size. ProBoards is better than that.

ProBoards is better than that. Ok, It's "new" ad that's bigger than the old one that was previously in that location. I'm the one that decided to frame it that way so if you want to take umbrage with that then it's on me. I have been a firm advocate for the least amount of advertising possible and when it's between a "bigger" ad or more ads on the page, I vote for the slightly bigger ad. We still have less ads (both in size and amount of total ads) on a page than virtually every website I visit on a regular basis.
