interesting debate. I have a question for you: Would setting your house on fire, even if there's nobody in it, be freedom of speech or is that, like burning the flag should be, illegal?

Burning your house with no one in it ... might not be illegal, but that would be moronic.
and your house does not have millions of people who have died defending what Your house represents.

I am not sure what your asking..... please clarify Burning your house, even if it's not endangering anyone, is illegal, even if it's your property and your house. So far, nobody's complained about that restriction.

I am strongly against flag burning and would love to put a boot heel in the faces of people who do it but we have the freedom of speech and choice and it is very wrong to take that away.

So if I bought a house and set it on fire, would that be limiting freedom of speech if I got arrested? EDIT: The flag is much different. It's not your flag, it's America's flag. If you don't like what America stands for, I suggest you get a new flag of your own instead of burning ours.

Personally, when I see some dumbass burning the US flag for a protest I am angered. Many people died to solidify the right for it to fly and some stupid towelhead wants to light it up. I am not against protesting at all. I just don't approve of them burning somthing that sacred to us. Do we burn the Koran in the streets ? No. Because a good part of America is Atheist the flag is just as sacred. I don't know why Americans just shrug their shoulders at this.
Edit: On the house burning issue you are being moronic because fire fighters are going to risk their lives to put it out.

So far, nobody's complained about that restriction. but if you wanted to burn a reproduction of it say a doll house representing it...burning it out of protest would not be illegel...same principal....what the flag represents is perspective ..and because its only a reproduction of what some interpet it to be, should not be held against those who wish to act on there 1 amendment rights....

I'm sure you know "stupid towelhead" is an offensive term to some people. A bit strange how in a thread centred around showing respect for the American flag you feel it's appropriate to show that sort of disrespect towards others.

It's not your flag, it's America's flag. wrong......the flag in the white house is the countries flag.....one I bought with my own money is my flag....or one I make with my own two hands is my flag..... I am not talking about desicreating an artifact...I am talking about a reproduction of something that is symbolic
