1. add the affiliate table
2. Create a thread or board for advertising/ affiliates
3. Give your code on the affiliate thread and tell them what code is required to add. (ie. <a href="URL OF FORUM"> <img src="URL OF MINIBANNER IMAGE" border="0" alt="NAME OF FORUM" /> </a> [this may not be the code you need to have affiliates. It depends on the affilate table you have])
4. once you get a code, make sure they have added your first then go to your admin section and go to where you put your affiliate table.
5. click save changes and walla!
*tip* affiliate with other forums, don't just have forums come to you. So when you go to other forums, enter you forum info in thier code format.

My friend set up the afflilates code on the Wilburys forum. She has a habit of sorting them from largest to smallest. Is she the only one?
By the way, it looks a lot neater.

I think Affiliates can be very useful, it also helps that you don't just affiliate with forums/sites that hold the same topic. For example, if you have a Harry Potter forum its best that you DONT just affilate with other Harry Potter forums, you will find that you will just be going around in circles.
I have a few affiliates and are all related to David in some way, for example I have some Billie Piper forums affiliated with me, Torchwood and Doctor Who Forums, and I'm currently looking for Harry Potter forums. Which gives me a wide range of fans, not just who like David but other actors, and television shows also.
Also a good tip would be, if for example you love a television show say Supernatural or Smallville it's also good to affiliate with those types of forums. The more people know about your forum/fansite the more members you are likely to gain.

If you have multiple forums, it's a good idea to afflilate between them. (Sorry, I'm not sure what else to say)

I have a question about the affliation thing. ;D And, I haven't read all of the posts within this thread, so I'm not positive whether or not it has been answered; but, since this thread is about the affliations between ProBoards, then I figured that it might as well be asked. Forgive, me, please. =P
What about people who can't make banners because they can't access imageshack, tinypic, photobucket, or anything else like that? I mean, is it possible for them to make an affliation link the same way, just without a banner? This may sound basic and easy, although I'm still fairly new to running a ProBoard, so I've still got a lot to learn about it. ;D
Help, please.

On any forum I am a part of it, it seems that there is this automatic belief that affiliation with as many sites as possible (similar in content or different) automatically equals more members. However, most of those members seem to be the kind that either post infrequently or just want to take over. Granted, some members make quality contributions, but the majority do not seem to do that at all.
I now have two forums, both inherited when the admins decided to up and leave instead of deleting the forum. On the first one, there were no affiliates and I intend to keep it that way. I would rather people find the forum because they are interested in the topic matter and join rather than stumbling across it by chance...especially since the content is so specific overall.
On the second forum, it had affiliates from day one. While I do not actively seek out new affiliates, I feel it is not fair to revoke the status unless they go back on the arrangement they had with the prior admin. I might change my mind at some point, but for now, I feel that the best way to operate until I have been in charge for a while.
Overall, I feel affiliates are quite useless and that the content and the members themselves should drive membership with interested parties. Granted, some new members are assets to a forum and would not have found it any other way, but I feel those members are limited in most cases, especially on a forum where they have no idea about the content. To me, it is similar to karma and I wish it was something that was revoked in Version 5...the ability to affiliate.
