Hi I am trying to get more visitors to my the forum I made for my sister what do you suggest? I have tried twitter, Facebook and Tumblr but so far I do not have a good amount of members in the forum. Hopefully someone can help me and guide me so that my forum can better serve everyone.

This thread is now 33pages long, I went through about 10pages of this topic and wasn't able to find helpful advice so I'm posting the very famous question over again..What is the best way to advertise my proboard For Free?
About a year in a half ago I started an Airsoft & Entertainment forum to connect nationwide airsofters together to discuss the game, upcoming events, etc. Well we died out for awhile then a few months ago I decided to bring the forums back to life.
I've posted local craigslist ads, ads on forums like this, and am now up to 52 people which I'm very excited about! I have about 15-20 very active users which discuss new topics everyday! So its not like the forums are dead. I've recently promoted word of mouth on my forums, But I'm wondering what I can do as administrator to expand my members. Any advice on what I can do for free is helpful! Thank you
<<removed link>> is my link incase I'm doing something wrong
Please read your pm's, gbpreblewr3.

<meta name="description" content=" Short Description Of Your Site/Forum"> Should each word be separated by a comma? Nope, this is a full-sentence description meta tag; if you were using meta name="keywords" for keywords, then yes, each would be separated by a comma.

I think that advertising you board comes a lot with creating a good name. If your forum name is "harrypotter123x", then it is not original and will not show up on the first page of yahoo or google or whatever search engine. A better name might be "harrypottershogwarts", as that is original. I do a lot of advertising on random boards, such as all the letters of the alphabet .proboards.com and those normally have lots of visitors, so I have gotten a couple of members from that. I don't have any affiliates on any of my boards, I choose to go for the simple boards as they are easier to use. Newbies sometimes wonder what the affiliates are for and end up joining their boards! It has happened to a friend of mine.

Well.Advertising a forum is not a simple task.First we must friendly to others.Communication is the key of a forum. Most people like to chat.So make some forum games like count down etc. Then make some strict rules.Only good members remain with us so ban members who have bad behaviour. These are first steps. Then you can talk about that forum to to others. Some surprises will be nice. You can facebook it also. Also you need to design your forum well. Some people only visits decorated forums.
Regards Raj

I've been going on an advertising spree for the past day or so, and I have a question (or more than one) I'm hoping people here can throw their input to. I have three types of advertisements: A picture with no description and links to the Home/Plot/Advertisement pages; a picture with a small description and links; and a picture with a long description (over five paragraphs) and links (exactly how it is in the 'Your Board: Advertise' section of this forum). Usually when I go on these sprees I use the section option, and if someone posts first on my board then it's tit-for-tat (if their ad is pic-only then my ad is pic-only, etc.)
But the question is,
Which one of these is most likely to pique a viewer's interest? Will just the picture get people clicking? Do they need to know what the site is about first, and how much info is too much or too little? This is obviously on a case-by-case basis, but I'm looking for a general answer.
