Okay, thanks!
And do you know how to make the links like Home under the banner, because how can you do that to link to your forum without writing the link to your forum?

Okay, thanks! And do you know how to make the links like Home under the banner, because how can you do that to link to your forum without writing the link to your forum? Hi You need to ask all these questions on the support board which I linked to you in my other post, as this is not the correct board. Please check the rules/criteria of each board, before posting on them. For example, by reading the rules of this board, you'll know that it's the wrong place to post for what you need.

This has been very informative, and as an Admin of two fairly new sites, I too will use it to enhance my sites. TY

I think adding your site to other sites is a good idea to get members. For the suggestions you gave up there, some of them just didn't do it. I submitted my site to Google which was good, and that worked just fine . But with AddMe.com it asks for your personal information. I don't wanna give my personal information to a site. Who knows? I would like to add my site to that site, but I just don't want anything happening bad. With yahoo, I really wanted to submit it but it linked me to this bing page which I had no idea what it was about. Even know I know bing is a search engine. I couldn't submit it then, and I didn't wanna sign up to bing, I wouldn't know what stuff I'd get. With the other sites they just led me to these random pages which I didn't even get. So Google was the only hit there. I agree, Proboards is a very good way to advertise your site. Put a eye catching awesome banner in your signature, post on some GOAYB threads and help the people out with there forum. That way in every thread you post in, your banner will be there, and you'll get a lot more members. It will make a big difference. And when you advertise your site on the boards, like where it has Archivers, General Forums ect, because you just might get a couple of members there . I am a member of a few Free Realms guild sites. I advertise my site on there. I usually get a few members. But the problem is your not allowed to post links on some of them, so people have to PM me for the link which is a bummer. I've only ever got like 3 members from there. Not much.

I think virtual word of mouth and pseudo-spamming fansites also work. My site is for a current television show and, while the site exists mainly as a place for viewers to Chat, my members also post the site's link at the network's community (fan blog) site. This has worked well for several of my show-sites. I also put the "Recommend this site" Facebook Like at the bottom of the main page, but that only works for those members who use Facebook. In two seasons, I have nearly 200 members.

I've gotten some new members from the Facebook version of my forum, but I'm not sure how I can continue to expand my board. I'd like to double to 20 regulars, if possible.

Whenever someone starts a thread that gets popular fast, I log into Google Webmaster tools and Submit that thread to index. That way, popular search terms for that subject end up ranking those threads and get me tons of visitors.
I do this 3 times a week and have had alot of success. People are online looking for answers to their questions. Submit those popular threads!

I've followed most of these tips and I found that affiliation does get you the most traffic, but it's just other admins checking that you have got the banner. Or maybe I'm in denial that my site is unwelcoming, regardless, thanks so much for these tips

Was who banned? This thread isn't discussing banning; nor, is it discussing anyone in particular. I really don't understand your question.

My forums is new so it only has 7 users and a person told me she would join later so we can say 8 people... But I hate that I have more than 30 guests per day and non of them join :/

I'm new to the forum making stuff as well, and this helped me out quite a bit! The advice was also great and I'm already gonna submit my forum here and to Google and Yahoo. Thanks again for this post OP.

I feel like it's way harder to find members than it used to be. Seems like there aren't as many active forums, either. Is this generation fading away from forums now that things like Instagram and Facebook have taken over life? I mean, DOES ANYONE READ ANYMORE?

Is this generation fading away from forums now that things like Instagram and Facebook have taken over life? I mean, DOES ANYONE READ ANYMORE? It really has been an ebb and flow. With the improvement in MMORPGs, and increased access to high-speed internet even in rural communities, I feel like written online gameplay (RP forums, MUDs, etc) have gone the way of the dodo. That being said, it's a great time to be a general topic/special interest forum host- because of the love affair with oversharing and social media, anonymous forums have become a safe place to "overshare" without boring your FB/twitter friends/followers to death.
