How do I get long URLs to work in posts? The last part of the URL gets ignored if it's a long address such as news papers use.

Already tried that, it doesn't work because for some reason the address gets changed, it gets a %20 added in to the middle, and it's not just one site that does that.

but I do understand what you mean. there's a space between the 144 cut off and the next set of numbers. the browsers don't read spaces as spaces, they read it as empty non-existant whatever, so they assume what's after is non-existant whatever. %20 is just a computer's way of telling itself that there's a space there.
taking out the space doesn't help, so I believe your problem is with the whole copying and pasting the link; check your browser's address bar and compare it character by character to your pasted link.

Please do NOT double post the same day.You could edit the first post & add whatever you wrote in next two posts.Double post is as bad as bumping before 24 hours.

I am stuck. I am trying to get my friends to register and join my board, but for some reason they are not able to, it keeps saying error. One friend has an account made by me, and his won't work for him either. Can anyone help me? Please create your own thread for your proboards problem. Don't hijack other Members threads. Please read the support rules sticky when you get a chance. Reason for having to create your own thread for your problem is cause helping 2 Members in same thread will cause confusion and may make the situation worse for both Members. Please create your own thread to get faster help. Just edited to remove the link in the quote

The link in post 5 doesn't work for me. Are you all saying it works for you?

Unfortunately, there is not much you can do for that. Is it always the same domain name in the url?

so is it my browser search engine google changing it or some sort of security to that site?. I've noticed it with another newspaper too. I've also noticed since posting here that its the same on v bulletin, but they can have longer links without having to put them in code.
Edit It does work in v bulletin, you can either put it in url codes, or put it in the pop up box that comes up when you click on the url code button.
Doesn't help me though on my proboards forum, but does prove to me it's not the url or my browser.
It's a town community site i can't quote text from local newspapers for discussion and no link to the source. They'll say I'm breaching copyright.
