hi can i manually register members by myself ? i would want the membership registrations to be disabled and only the Admin or Mods allowed to manually register members.
i know this is possible on other forums, what about here at proboards ? coz i didnt see any such option in Admin functions.

ok go to admin then general settings and change it to limited registration basiclly that means everytime someone joins you have to approve them you do this by going on admin and if there is someone awaitng approval there will be another link at the bottom of manage members.

Help is at hand Sm0rt is here!, has given the solution to this really. But if you don't want to go through the trouble of seeing which members you want to approve and all that, and you would like to interact with your members in some way, you can disable sign-ups, and ask them to e-mail you their applications to sign up at your forum.

thanks for replying, i'm kind of aware of what you both answered...... my question still remains un answered.........
where do i click or which option do i use to manually register members ? as you said Avtar, members shall email me asking for registration and then i will manually register them , how do i do that ?
in my current xsorbit board, i can do this, there is an option that says "register new members" i enter their preferred forum ID, then their email and then the board emails them an automated email welcoming them to forum with their user ID and password details. its so simple. the default email message that goes to members from the xsorbit forum is the the email with which the Admin registered at the forum.
how can i do manual registrations at proboard ? and how can i have welcome email as my default email ID not the "proboard" emails we currently see.
i hope i was able to clarify my requirements.
regards Guy

If you disable sign-ups, you'll be given the option to manually create new users. It will be in the menu buttons to the right of "Logout" (look for "Register")
This option is only available if signups are disabled.

thanks Raptor, i tried it but its not a good option, coz when the server sends an automatic email to the new member, it puts some information which should be of no concern to the normal user.......
have look below at the email footer that was sent to a test member i registered.....
Here is your account information:
username: testuser password: ******
In order to use your account, you must activate it. You can activate your account at the following location:
http://******.proboards98.com/index.cgi?action=activateacc*********
Your activation key is: ****************
You have received this email because you are a registered member of the forum at http://******.proboards98.com/index.cgi Your account username at this forum is "*****" here i see the username i registered at the forum as Admin
why should a normal user see my username ***** ??
