However I have had two new members joined up, but I havent been asked to approve them..whats happened?!

Yes it has been activated and finished, if you arent the main admin the main admin will have to add that power to your powers. Also double check under your admin under pending members. It won't tell you per say that you have new members. You have to check that yourself. (See the announcement Craig made about approvals)
