open a new tab and make sure the sheild is green, then close the tab the shield opened you don't need it

HotSpot shield doesn't affect web pages at all. Just your ability to access them.

No idea what the problem could be but it works fine for me....and pugsley.

sky do not get involved in that kind of thing as far as I know, and as for eat your hard drive ..

now if the new internet leglislation against piracy had gone through already, sky might well get involved in the nitty gritty, but at the moment they are providing me with a good internet service and the only servers I cannot access are proboards.

I am the "new" person and reported what SKY had told me.. i have had no probs regarding virus's etc and as i said i am clueless with this kind of thing. I only joined today to try and get some info so i can go on pro-boards again. I am not saying what SKY told me is gospel given i was told in the previous call something totally wrong which the 2nd guy apologised for! Seems like they are fobbing people off and no-one has a clue tbh.

Nah I have norton 360. But what Virus's are they on about?

I suspect that the issue is that somewhere down the line (between us and you) the traffic is being blocked. As its limited to sky customers, it makes sense to say thats where the issue is.

Im currently working up some mockups for various connectivity situations. This will help me to detect if its inbound or outbound traffic thats blocked (or both), if its related to just a single port etc (*insert other techy talk here*).

Depending on the results, ill have a much better idea of where the issue is. If i can tell them "the problem lies on your router X" they will have a much harder time giving me no information.

Its also possible that depending on what the issue is, i can find a workaround where if i detect a sky request, i handle it differently.

If theres any sky customers that are fairly patient and computer literate, PM me and let me know. It would probably be quicker to work with 1 person directly than to have a thread waiting for replies etc
