Game Play, Rules and Roles
New rules and roles appear in red.
The first night phase will then begin immediately. Once that has finished, it will switch to day; once a lynching (or none) has been performed, it immediately transitions back to night, and so on.
NIGHT PHASE:
--Narrator will post to recap the day's lynching, if any, and announce that it is night-time, then PM special roles with instructions.
--Villagers cannot post discussion or speculation in this thread. "Sleepy-time" posts are allowed, and everyone may talk amongst themselves through PM at this time. (Think of it as a late-night phone call.)
--Five Mafia members will chat via PM, IM, or any other method they choose, selecting a villager to kill. Once they unanimously choose a target, they will notify me.
--One detective will PM me with the name of the player they wish to investigate, and I will respond to tell them if that individual is a Mafia member or villager (detective does not "discover" any special roles of doctor, nurse, etc if applicable, only alignment).
--One doctor will PM me with the name of the player they wish to protect from a Mafia killing that night only (one player per night, does not carry over to another night, and does not affect lynchings).
--If the Mafia and the doctor or nurse choose the same person, that person lives that night. If they don't, I'll post about the death, and the game will move to the next day phase.
DAY PHASE:
--Narrator will post to recap the night's events, if any, and announce that it is day-time.
--All players still alive will decide which one player to execute on suspicion of being in the Mafia.
--Communication by players still alive is allowed during this phase, privately or in public on the thread.
--When you decide on your final vote, post the name of that player in the thread (along with any justification, etc, you wish). Please post it in bold so I see it. If you want to retract or change your vote, please also post it in bold. (If it's not in bold and the thread explodes overnight, I can't guarantee I'll catch it. )
--Vote retraction is allowed as long as the player you're voting for doesn't have over 50% of the votes.
--Once a 50%+ majority has been attained, that player is immediately sentenced to death and vote retraction is no longer allowed. It is effectively night time until I post about the execution.
--A player who has just been lynched is allowed one simple, sad "bah" post immediately, with no extra game play content, hints, pleas, threats, oaths, etc. If any hints are left in a death post, I will kindly request you remove them/remind everyone to disregard your points. After that, you're not allowed to post here or PM players still in the game about it. You are out of the game entirely.
--Once the execution occurs, it immediately transitions to night again.
--During this phase, villagers are also allowed to 'commit suicide' -- or, basically, lynch themselves without popular vote. Suicides will not kick the game into the night phase, though a few villagers may be left distraught by the incident.
In both phases, I will generally stay out of it except when I feel a crucial rules clarification needs to be made, to answer questions posted publicly that won't ruin game play, to make judgment calls about rules if absolutely necessary (unlikely, though), and to make narrative death posts. I'm probably lurking and always available by PM, though. I may post occasional vote updates to give players an idea of where the village stands. If you have any public questions or something needs clarification, please say my name in bold so I don't miss it.
ADDITIONAL RULES:
1. General: There are absolutely no screenshots or videos allowed this round. Anyone found using such means as proof may be -gasp- disqualified. However, quoted copies of PMs and the like are allowed.
2. Executions (lynchings): During the day, once over 50% of the current players vote for a player to be lynched, that person is immediately sentenced to death. Even if I'm not online, the person is still considered executed; no "vote retraction" is allowed to save someone after the balance has tipped. If you prefer, think of it this way: once the mob reaches that fury of over 50% crying for a lynching, there's no stopping the blind, blood-fueled rage from filling you. (Note: Vote retraction is allowed if a majority has not yet been reached.)
3. No lynching: If no majority vote is reached within 24 hours after a new daytime phase has been announced, there will be no lynching at all, and the game will move into the next night immediately.
4. You may vote No Lynch instead of voting for a player.
5. Reminder: if you plan on setting your profile to 'invisible' this round, it is highly suggested that you do so before the game starts. I've found that going invisible at all -- especially in the middle of a round -- is thought of as suspicious; therefore, i recommend leaving it off. However, I've always thought login times were rather weak as evidence anyway, so it really doesn't matter either way.
Please note that since I have no place to show you all the role PMs I sent out, I cannot post them all here. If you would like me to post a certain one, bold your request and I'll see to it that it happens. If you still have questions about your role, game play, etc, you can always PM me.
Have fun lying and lynching! ;D
