Day 9 Recap
After the excitement of the helicopter flying over everyone decided it was time to leave the mall. Everyone gathered all their gear, the few remaining rations and proceeded to leave the mall. Everyone filed outside carrying their stuff, a few stragglers coming out last minute.

Pepper drove her car slow and quiet, Crow and Phaelyn in the back seat. Phaelyn was weak, halfway to the restaurant she had a nagging feeling that something was wrong. She couldn't put her finger on it so she ignored the feeling.

When they reached the restaurant they found it locked. They decided the back door would be the easiest to reinforce and Kim shot the lock out of the door (-1 9mm ammo). Pepper parked her car on the side of the building after discovering a roof access point inside. She could always jump down onto the roof of the car and get in in an emergency, especially since the zombies would be attacking the front or back doors.

The survivors checked the restaurant for food. The walk-in freezer had been off for over a week and all the food inside was spoiled. The dry storage room however had lots of food available (found 48 rations). They were unable to get any power turned on. Flipping the circuit breakers did nothing. Eventually Derek found a grill and was able to get it lit using Wildmaven's lighter. They turned up the flame and prepared for a camp out. Hiding out in the back was safer than the dining room with its many windows. Everyone pulled out the seats of booths to build make-shift beds in the kitchen.

As Phaelyn sat on the first of these beds she watched the others work and the nagging feeling returned. She began to count the other survivors. Eleven. No that's not right. She counted again. Eleven.

"Oh no! Everyone where is Alex?!?!" She suddenly shouted.

"Wasn't he in the car with you?" Someone asked. They all got up and searched the building. Pepper even went out to check her car. Alex was nowhere to be found. The sun was dipping behind the horizon. The moans of zombies could be heard on the wind.

Night 9 Recap
The survivors took turns huddling around the open flame of the stove. Sometime after midnight the kitchen finally started to warm up. Many were scared after losing Alex. No zombies attacked and the silence almost made the situation worse.

Sometime just before dawn Phaelyn passed out. Her skin pale she sweated and twitched uncontrollably. Her breathing grew shallow.

Before I post my day's actions, Ryan, is it in any way possible to get to the helicopter drop zone by scouting East or by searching nearby? I doubt it, but I might as well ask.

Well, I'm about to die anyways, anyone wanna go scout with me and move onto another stronghold in an attempt to get there?

Just throwing this out there but the two people above you already donated the max life they can. You're actually over full health, so I wouldn't say you're about to die.

I figured that the fainting meant that the infection is closing in? That's what I meant -- I should have been clearer, sorry.

Well, we need to form a search party to look for Alex. Before posting today's action, I'd like to get that squared away. I imagine scouting south along our migration route, all the way back to the mall, is the best course of action.

Anybody else going with me? Since there's safety in numbers, perhaps two others? Maybe Pepper, since you have the car?
