Forum URL: crossvillerants.proboards.comI am trying to make the forum where people have to register in order to view the forum. I went to General Settings and checked where they must register. I am still showing guests on the forum. How can I remedy this?

No, it isn't. It has something to do with the ads, so that they match the subject and colors of your site. Also it scans for new websites to add to search engines, making free advertisement for your site.

Search engine bots have IP#s from rinky dink internet providers from areas that suggest otherwise? Like a site for a small, small, small town , thats seeing guests local ip#s All settings on forum are set to disallow guests. No, it isn't. Anyone from proboards able to answer. the answers of "it has something to do with...." sound very incompetent to say the least, and make the situation seem very odd from a complete factual answer to this problem which I'm sure we aren't the only ones with

the answers of "it has something to do with...." sound very incompetent to say the least, and make the situation seem very odd from a complete factual answer to this problem which I'm sure we aren't the only ones with The Googlebot scans pages to add them to Google's database. This is covered by the link posted by Snakeair. The ads actually "scan" the pages as they load, and deliver the ads based upon keywords it finds on the page. "Factual" enough?

The way you put it, and after reading the link from that user you mentioned, more then helpful. But some of the ip#s that show up in guests are odd for bots. I mean way odd.

I banned the ip's for the googlebots (or whoever they are).
They haven't been back since and no more mysterious guests walking our board.
