Okay so we had a meeting about this, here's the verdict.
We will be adding an option to forum settings in the admin area for Large Image Display. The two options will be the following. 1) Display large images full size with a scroll bar. 2) Display large images reduced to fit the width of their container.
Everybody wins!
Notes: Images will not link to their source by default.
There are a lot of reasons for not linking, all of them have to do with coding and implementation. Dealing with URL tags around images that are automatically getting URL tags, etc. Plus Option 1 doesn't have a link, so option 2 doesn't need a link. We also didn't want to deal with making all images links automatically. Anyways that just a few of the reasons why making them link automatically doesn't work.
If you want the image to link then you can very simply make it link. You already have the URL for making the IMG tag, its 2 seconds more to place it in a URL tag. Then people who want links can have them and people that don't aren't forced.
Everybody wins!

I'm not sure about other browsers, but in Opera it has an option for when right clicking an image, you can choose "open image", and it'd open the full size image in a new tab, so the way you guys will do it for us, will work perfectly fine.. for me at least. So thanks for that.
