There will be a plugin (well, probably more than one!) that you can use for sidetables. Our new plugin system makes everything really simple for adding codes

I think the point isn't to advertise FB, but to get more people to "Like" the ProBoards Facebook page. Even as someone who uses FB regularly, I'm not a fan of this policy.

Your forum colors will convert over to v5. You have even more control over your forum's theme with v5 -- we give you direct access to the HTML templates.

Ok, so I gave in and created a fictitious account to 'like' once signed in on FB. However, after doing so .. it asks for an email to sign myself up for the 'Beta Zone'. Can I use another email aside from the one I used when registering an account with FB?

That email is kept by ProBoards, not FB, so yes, you can use a different one.

What if you do not like Facebook, what then? Can V5 run without Facebook?

I don't think ratings for posts is a good idea. People on the old AOL boards abused that to the hilt, and it made more of a negative tone to the usual lightness of these pro boards.

JMO of course, but I don't thing the ratings 'stars' are a good idea.

Also, I am new to this so please forgive my lack of knowledge, I don't 'do' Facebook. I hope we can keep our old proboards the same and not have to update or get out. I don't like Facebook, and don't really want to have to do anything with them.

The sign up itself doesn't inherently require Facebook, but the form is only shown if you're logged in and like the page. Using the actual link to the form when not logged in to Facebook still works, so hopefully ProBoards will just add a captcha to the form and make it available to people who don't use Facebook.
