[request] auto pm message for rank ups

Is it important that its a PM? I mean could it just be some giant box that opens up with a custom message along the lines of "Congratulations, you have made it to posting rank <rank>! Your parents are very proud of you" maybe with some images.

or do you need to keep records of when these ranks were achieved?

not really that important 
it was more of a courtesy. but a box that goes off every time a rank is hit would be good the image part would probly be like a trophy or a level up symbol. 

records would be nice
it would give me an idea if the posts are too high or too low

but that's up to you Wormopolis
if its a royal pain to make a record keeper of the hits then don't bother with it

if you don't think its possible any chance you can change the tag from {In-The-Works} to [On-Hold]?

well for record keeping, I have two ideas. one would be making it send a PM to the admin whenever someone hits a rank, as well as that person getting the pop-up. the only problem with that is it requires an extra click to go to PM page to send PM.

or I could append data to the admin storage key as notifications for each person that hits a new rank, but it requires the admin account be checked periodically to clear out the log or it will fill up,

I like the second option a lot more 

I'm on my account at least 3 if not 12 times a day checking

what are we actually storing then?  the dates?  the number of people on the same rank?

since the number of people ranking would be limited by the post number

Im trying to wrap my head around how to store the dates. this wouldnt be unlimited. you won t be able to store the dates every single member hit a new rank for every single rank. it seems like it would just fill up too fast. lets say you had a posting rank at 10 posts. and you had 500 members all at 9 posts. within a few days you would have tried to store 500 dates just for that single rank. each date gets stored at 10 characters, you just exceeded the capacity of a key.

maybe have it store the last 100 achievers? then it could store name and rank with date. 10 for date, 10(approx) for rank, 10(approx) for name. that stores 3000(approx)

ok good news and bad news

good news: I have th eplugin working in that it will pop up a dialog with whatever HTML you come up with that alerts the member they acheived a new rank. it will also log that members history on their own key...

bad news: because I used a user key, only they can read it. which means my idea of keeping a log of the last 100 or so rankups wont work by pushing it to the admin's version of the key like I thought. however, if I switch it to a superuser key, it will work. but then it costs a super key slot instead of a regular key slot.

so what are your thoughts?
