That's interesting Entris I had been wondering if a code or plugin could be the answer to have links open into a new tab or window.

That's interesting Entris I had been wondering if a code or plugin could be the answer to have links open into a new tab or window. My memory failed me a bit @ritab, went through the codes we have in the headers and saw that it was a target=" _blank" added to the links like this one <a href="URL Here" target="_blank" >Clicky Text here< /a> which made them open in a new tab. These do still work on V5 i added one to the sidebar to test it but they have to have the target=" _blank" in them to work so perhaps there is a way to alter the Link button to have the Target part in it?

Yes to whatever you said.... What is a sidebar? Thats the ones you have on the side of the board like the ProBoards Sidebar Plugin by Patric or Sidemenus as they are also called every now and then. The code tag in my previous post is a HTML one so that works in the sidebars but the posting link button uses the brackets instead [] but i think it is possible to add the target _blank in that one too but not sure, not a comp wizz and know much of it so perhaps someone else that knows can tell us if it is possible to alter the Link button so it adds a target _blank text in it? Love the way the link button work in V5 BTW, the popup window makes it so much easier to add the links and clicky text!

When you post a link using [url=X]text[/url], it's automatically converted to [a href="X"]text[/a] as standard. This doesn't include the target="_blank", but it seems to do the same job, oddly. You can however use [url="x" target="_blank"]text[/url] if you want to be sure. The BBCode that ProBoards has developed looks like it was written using HTML as a guide (hence the conversion from [url=... to [a href..., which mirrors <a href...), so most things that you can do in a tag like <this>, you should be able to do in a tag like [this].
Fairly certain there's a thread listing a lot of the possibilities somewhere, if anyone happens to have a link to it.

Oh cool, tyvm pawl A bit confused about your first post thought, the links in there all opens in a new tab for me exept the first No Tag one. How come just the first one opens in the same window but not the rest? @ritab Looks like all but one way you add a URL link will open a new window only one that doesn't is the way Paul added the first www.purple.com one in his first post because that opens in the same window for me but all the rest is opened in a new tab.
