My real issue is that I can't hear any sound when I use my iPad to Shout. Neither can my members. I checked my Settings on my iPad and I don't seem to have anything crazy set. I moved the plug-in to the top of my list just in case something was interfering but that didn't seem to do anything. This is only the second question I've asked, so I don't know what info you might need to check this out. I can tell you that I'm on iOS 7.0.4... Hi ptbt, I did some investigating and a lot of head scratching after downloading Safari to my PC ( I don't have an Ianything ) It seems that Safari on a PC is not fully HTML5 compatible and for audio sounds to be played the way this plugin works requires quick time player 7 to be installed (and the PC then restarted) I now have to decide whether to just add a disclaimer saying it wont work with Safari unless this is installed, or just disable it altogether for Safari in general. I'm not sure if this is the case if you're using Safari on a Mac or whatever. Obviously, it would be better if Safari made their browser fully compatible!

Hi Pebble, thank you for taking the time to check into this for me. My users and myself are all on iPads of various vintages, so I would have to check and see if Safari even uses QuickTime on an iPad! I can do that and let you know what I discover if that will be any help. In the meantime, I will tell my users it can't currently be used on an iPad... and since I switched to the Sound checkmark, which doesn't display on the iPad, they are used to that at the moment. Appreciate your help with this!

Ah, 'kay. That earlier post of mine was just me making light nit-picks. Take it with a grain of salt and a dash of vinegar.

I have this plugin on my site and for some reason, whenever I visit a page from my site on my ipad I hear the sound effect as the page is loading, which is rather irritating. Does anyone else have this and know how I can solve this?
Thanks

A url to your forum would be helpful. Does this only happen on an iPad? Which browser are you using?

I'm planning on re-writing this code but it wont be for a few weeks at least. Any improvements I make , may fix the iPad problem. I'll keep my eye out for someone with an iPad that is willing to let me play with it and see if I can quickly find out the problem.

Pebble I have my shoutbox in my sidebar. I can't seem to get your plugin to work. Any thoughts? surfries.proboards.comEdit: Okay so I was wrong it is working BUT I can only see it if I put the "reply at the top". Also when I do that it covers messages in the box. I've tried making the box bigger but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Hi Pebble, I'm rather new to ProBoards and I am currently trying to get your Shoutbox Sound Plugin to work, but i'm having some difficulty. I made a Dropbox account and when I copy the link to the clipboard and paste it into the correct URL slots in the plugin it doesn't seem to work . I was hoping you could help me get this working? I saw that your post had a different URL format than mine which is similar to Tressa's. My current links are as follows (i'm not well versed in BBCode so I'm not sure how to make my links pretty like Tressa's ^_^ MP3: www.dropbox.com/s/9mco2ezmbnzkzg5/button-31.mp3WAV: www.dropbox.com/s/no650pp7qdkcpn9/button-31.wavI hope you can help me figure this out! Thanks, Dragon

The links above are download links. When you are in dropbox, right click on the file and there should be a direct link. That's the one you want. Also, make sure that it is in your public folder.

I am very new to dropbox and I'm not seeing a "public folder" or "direct link". Could you possibly point me in the right direction? I'd send you screen shots, but I'm still searching for a way to upload photos w/o needing a URL ^_^;
