Sorry, I wasn't sure where to post this. But is there any way to stop members, other than staff deleting their posts in V5?

Greetings,
Deleting one's own content is a member's choice and cannot be restricted.

Thank you for your reply RedBassett. Got to admit I'm surprised though, as we could restrict non staff members from deleting their own post in V4 & most other forums don't allow members to delete posts.

This could be done via a template mod forum wide, probably, or a plugin if not. I think the only condition is that they be allowed to either edit or delete their own posts, they must be allowed to do at least one of those. I'll tag VS Admin to check.

Thank you Rosefriend I don't mind members editing their posts, just not happy with total deletion.

Sorry but we won't be adding this at this time. Thank you. P.S. I will link this thread to VS Admin for his ruling on if it's okay or not using a plugin or code.

Greetings, Deleting one's own content is a member's choice and cannot be restricted. Mmmmm I have a group on my forum, I can stop that group deleting posts and threads...... Screen shot: http://i493./rr297/WWWF_08/Beta/ScreenShot2013-02-12at172504.png I'm not happy that they can delete threads though.....

Thank you Rosefriend I don't mind members editing their posts, just not happy with total deletion. I have seen members edit their posts leaving just a full stop - which is equal to deleting.

@ritab: What Patrick linked to seems to say that plugins can remove the delete button. I believe the old policies (which I was working from) said that this was not possible, but policies can change. As for deleting posts and threads in groups, this means other peoples content, such as allowing moderators to delete posts. By default, all members can delete their own posts, but not anyone else's.
