Forum URL: oliverart.proboards77.comI would like to know if it's possible to post the images we've loaded into our storage, into the threads so they can be seen at a glance instead of needing a remote viewer like the Windows Picture and Fax Viewer? If there is a way could you tell me how to go about it please

Thank you for your help Ms Pixie
I already know how to post a live link to a picture on another site though, the problem lies with the attachments we load up with the thread.
Because the pictures are loaded up as an attachment we don't get a url code for them, and all we do get is a link that opens up Windows Picture and Fax Viewer or another such remote viewer. This isn't what Charles Oliver wanted, and not everyone can hotlink to their website.
Do you know how we can get the url of the uploaded attachment?

The code she gave using the IMG tag should display the image right in a message or whatever. The URL tag will take you to a remote link. If you want to see the picture/graphic online - the IMG code will do so.

I recommend using something like www.imageshack.us instead of the attachments.

But I will tell them that they will have to put up with the image situation as it is, and download a remote viewer or hot link. I will also pass on the site link that you have very kindly found us Well not relly solved but I think this is as good as we are going to get

Because the pictures are loaded up as an attachment we don't get a url code for them, I have a question, how exactly do you get them to be posted as attachments? Or what is a more convenient way of posting images, without having to go to a site such as imageshack.us or tinypic.com or anything like that? Sorry to hack your thread, I just hesitate to start a new one about it, I haven't been following this board and probably this has been discussed somewhere already. If so, many thanks in advance for pointing me in the right direction. So how to I integrate picture uploading into my board?

Hi Irenemo. The owner of my board has paid for aditional storage for images, as we are mostly artists and need to be able to post our paintings. This adds an extra funtion for uploading an atachment when we start a thread or post a reply, but it seems that we can only see then in a viewer, and not as a physical part of the thread. I don't mind you asking in my thread and I'm sure that the admin and mods here won't mind either, as it's about the same subject.
It seems the best way to intigrate a picture is to load it into a site that either allows hot linking, or your own website where you have paid for the privilage of being able to hot link.
You hot link by going to your picture, in your web site of choice. Right click on the picture, and in the windows box that opens got down to properties, click on it, and then copy all of the url address you see in the next box. You might need to widen that box to see all of the url though, but make sure you have it all or it won't work at all.
Now you go to your forum open a new thread or post box and make sure you get the {img}url address {/img } codes and post the url address between them. I have left spaces and used the wrong type of brackets so you can see the code, but you need to use the square [ brackets.
Sorry Irenemo I gave you the wrong code, I have just altered it, it's not url but img Doh!

I don't mind you asking in my thread and I'm sure that the admin and mods here won't mind either, as it's about the same subject. The main reason that's a rule is because it gets confusing answering two people's questions at once. Now you go to your forum open a new thread or post box and make sure you get the {url}url address {/url } codes and post the url address between them. I have left spaces and used the wrong type of brackets so you can see the code, but you need to use the square [ brackets. You should use [img]URL HERE[/img] to post an image.
