Forum URL: exdat.proboards44.comRight, we have a topic on my forum asking what program they use for graphics, if someone was to say to another member "Well, with my superior pirating skills, I could get yall PS CS for free' is that classed as illegal stuff? I know pirating is illegal, but are we allowed to talk about stuff like that on a PB forum? Thanks... Need to know asap please..

To be safe, I wouldn't. Lock the thread.

What about talking about file sharing softwares, saying about how to get a program for free using a program such as Ares or Lime Wire.. Cos they arent illegal...

Whether that is a ToS violation or not is up to the people working ToS. Probably not, but then again it's up to you.

A p2p program in and of itself is not illegal, just the various things you can do with it. It's against the TOS rules to discuss using p2p for piracy. Best thing would be to lock any discussion advocating piracy and warn the members so that it shows you are actively discouraging on your forum.

Ok thanks..I will lock or delete the members post and warn him...
But if were not actually discussing piracy as such, and are only talking about downloading stuff from a p2p program for free, is that allowed? I dont think it is is it, cos would that fall under the rule of 'promote any illegal activity.'
But, than again, its not illegal just so long as you are only downloading it for yourself..
Thanks

Thats a common misconception.
Its just as wrong for an individual to download things even if it is just for "own personal use" its just for ease, those that are convicted are those sharing
Just stay clear of that area

Ok thanks... But if it is illegal to downlaod things that arent meant to be free, whats the point of a P2P program?

lets assume you made a home video and wanted your friends to see it, then you could use p2p.
if you own the copyright, then you can share it if you want.
