I apologize if this is in the wrong section.
Hi there, I'm an administrator for a few forums (from roleplay forums to support forums for a game) and I've a couple of important questions and concerns about v5.
On one of the forums I administrate we recently upgraded to v5. I really like it and it's easy enough to work with. But that's come with at least two major issues presented to my staff and I.
One being age. We can't see what someone's age is unless they decide to show it/fill it in. I noticed when I joined another forum I wasn't required to fill out my age there either. So the staff on that forum wouldn't know my age as well. I find this incredibly inconvenient because the forum I administrate follows COPPA / doesn't allow for anyone under the age of thirteen to actively partake in our forums or game. We also used to look at age to compare accounts that we suspected to be the same person. Usually when the ages matched up, we'd send them a PM and ask them about. (As complicated as this process may seem to others, it's a relatively simple process that my staff has followed for years now, v5 appears to make this impossible to do?) I'm just curious why users aren't forced to fill out their age anymore. Unless I'm missing something.
Another thing is the search members feature. Has that gone completely or am I just not looking in the right spot? I'm aware you can go to a users profile and search from there, but we could really use the search members function itself. Especially when it comes to IP searching. If I've missed this, somehow, I'd appreciate it if someone could direct me to where it's at.
And finally, after reading in the FAQ:
I was wondering if there'll be a permanent opt-out option? Mostly for the roleplay sites I'm on. My concern isn't making the forum look like it used to, I can do that, but rather it's the roleplay posts themselves. We use table codes and Style UBBC Tag codes for our posts. When I updated one of my forums to v5, all of those roleplay posts and the roleplay post tables broke because of the new code that posts use.
And if there won't be a permanent opt-out option, could there at least be an option to keep the old UBBC format (like using right instead of text-align:right or img instead of img-src etc? There's /so/ many roleplay posts and a lot of them have so much work put into them. When the upgrade happens, a lot of posts, character bios, etc are going to look like.. well, they're not going to look so pretty. xD
(Also out of curiosity how much would it cost to keep a server going for permanent opt-outs of v5? Is there anyway there could be a donation system? Because I sure as heck would be willing to donate to keep some of my forums out of v5.)

And finally, after reading in the FAQ:
What is Betazone ?
Betazone is a place to test V5 software, not only to find bugs, but also to see how your board will look in V5 when your board is converted.
You have the option of converting early during the transition period, or waiting until full conversion,
The transition period has been announced as 28 January, with full conversion being 29 April
If you are not ready to convert on April 29th, there will be an opt out, this means that you will not be forced to convert until December
Whether you have copied your board, or made a new one, or both (you can convert up to 5 times), you have the opportunity to make the Beta board look the way you want it, once you are happy, you can export everything to your computer, this includes themes, plugins, templates, headers and footers. it will not include any posts or PM's.
Betazone is temporary, just because you made a copy of your V4 board, doesn't mean the betazone board settings will transfer automatically to the full conversion, so that's why you will need to export
