Forum URL: emergingpoets.com/.proboards83.comI am quite interested in knowing how the 50,000 page views is calculated for the add free payment. I have 76 members, I have my settings configured so guests don't get the add free views but yet my add free board 'ran out' in 9 1/2 days with 76 members and about 5000 posts in that same time frame. I'm beginning to think that there is something wrong with this picture and I'm fairly sure that it is impossible that we've used 50000 page views in 9 1/2 days. If there is something I'm missing or another way I can go I'd like to know what it is. Hate advertising on the board, especially the type of advertising that is there and I'm looking for help. Jim Furber Just a comment, I know my forum runs at a rate of about 10 pagviews per post, so it may yet be possible for you to get 50,000 pageviews in 9 1/2 days if you can get 5,000 post in that ammount of time.

that would mean our board is getting 5000 page views per day from 76 REGISTERED members since guests don't count, of which maybe 10 are on line in any given hour...that's some pretty busy members. I'd just like to know how it's counted and if there is some other way to insure we always have a add free board. Last month, without having 'no' in my add free preference for guests, I did 100,000 page views in the entire month. I didn't believe it but it's what they said...this month I shut the guests out from add free boards and now I'm running - according to this - 150000 per month. That's about 2000 page views per member per month, actually more like 5000 page views per member per month since about 1/3 of the members are regular visitors. I love the board but I doubt the count and I'd just like to know how it is calculated and if there is something else I can do. At least if we could choose a category of adds some of those ads google runs are pretty nefarious/questionable. Jim F

Its every pageview, so to make a post from visiting, its 1 hit to view the main page, 1 hit to view the board page, 1 hit to view the new thread page, and 1 hit to view the posted thread
Thats 4 views right there
If you start viewing multiple threads a single member will get pageviews up very quickly
This forum for example gets 100's of thousands of hits daily

Thank you Martyn, I appreciate the explanation...we love the board ... the only pain in my side is that darn advertising ... wouldn't mind so much if I could at least select a type of advertising I would prefer ... having ads on the board about how to steal passwords and spy on other peoples computers just gets me. Too bad there weren't options ... is there any other choice to paying 7.00 every ten days .... Perhaps less expensive one time fees or blocks? Other software? Thanks for your time, Jim F

If the ads are genuinly inapropriate, or illegal, just click the ads by google link, and goto the fedback section and point out that things like password stealing isnt legal
The ads themselves should then be removed
