Hello all, I have been up all night almost, and over the last week or so, with a problem with a member on my forum. This member has been banned many times, but comes back with a new IP everytime. I have to NOW approve accounts, but it is hard to tell who is the problem member and who isn't? I was wondering if there is anyway of getting that member's ip from somewhere else? I have them on msn, can it be done via msn or e mail? Please understand this is a last resort, and I am not trying to 'hack' into this person, as I do not know how, and wouldn't. Thankyou ps. really easy step by step method would be handy!

It sounds like that member is using a proxy, if you continue to ban their email and IP they should eventually get bored of trying to annoy you. But sorry, banning a different IP wouldn't help. You could try using wildcards if the IPs are all alike: 123.456.789.001 123.456.789.002 would both be banned by banning 123.456.789.*

They do have a similar ip each time (this has been going on for over a month now, so I am getting bored of it, not them)

Just be carefull with wild cards. You can ban innocent members as well. Including yourself

you can ban e-mail addresses as well you know That still won't stop a motivated spammer. There tons of email address you can sign up for. The wildcard ban is the best shot at this point. Or disable signsups. Let's let this thread drop now.

I hear there is a directory. Alot of these IP's are using the same number. It's like a phone number type of thing. But the end numbers are in that area. So if you can find this...just put that area one and it's solved. BUT, if the person moves out of that area or another person's computer they can still get to you. Also if you have another person living around them. It can and will effect them too. As they will both be banned.
