Forum URL: marthamatthews.proboards25.comHas anyone ever used PayPal to set up a subscription service to a forum? If so, how is this done? PayPal has a feature that allows someone paying for a subscription to select a user name ans password. This can be sent automatically to a web site but I do not know how to make this work with my forum. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Martha

If you are wanting to get ad free, you have to either use a credit card or mail in a money order. Pay pal is no longer used on proboards.

What I would like to do is have people pay a subscription to belong to a new forum I want to start. Is there a way to set up a payment requirement before they are able to sign up? Also, is this allowed with Proboards.

It would not be fair for you to make money on a free service when people can join other proboards for free.

Do you know for certain that this is something Proboards would not allow? Also, does anyone know the answer to my original question about how to set up a PayPal subscription payment prior to registering? Martha

Pat has said in the past you can charge for membership should you wish, providing you are explicit as to where the money is to, and that any disputes could be problematic for you
We advise agaist it, as not only can it cause problems, but also few people will pay for something they can get free elsewhere, remeber no adult content as allowed on proboards
As for paypals automated accound creation, that is unrelated to how our system works, you will manually need to activate accounts yourself

I took a look at the TOS and could not find anything that said it was a violation. I do understand that I would be on my own regarding any problems that would arise. The reason I an considering this is because I want to provide valuable content and mentoring for the members. That is why I would charge for the membership. I am still in the consideration mode. Thanks for the info. Martha

A possible way to do it is to charge for access via your website. Upon payment, you can create an account for them on your board, and then they can start posting. That is of course, unless you don't have a website, if not, then just ignore me Craig
