You are looking at the Summary. Yes ? Can you see under " Latest status " Location. Post. Date of registration ? The email address should be on top of this list.

Yes, it's the Summary I'm looking at. All the usual info is there under Latest Status, but not e mail addresses.
That's why I'm wondering if it's being gradually rolled out

This may be against the Terms of Service, as we are not allowed to harvest personal information. I realized later that I have the ability to export member info out of my Google group. So it shouldn't be a Terms of Service issue, depending on the content of the ToS. Google is way different, and has nothing to do with ProBoards. This can be big privacy issue, thus why its in the TOS.

As Admin, I can't see any e mail addresses yet in members' profiles or even my own! I can see the options about who it can be viewed by, but not the e mail itself. Has it not been rolled out to all the forums yet? frenchfocus.proboards.com/Hey there, go to the summary part, and reset it. This will give it to you.

I disagree. At the very least the email should be view-able the admin. I do agree that they should have the option drawing the analogy with the birthday, I think that's a good idea. However, as the admin, I should have access to information about my members. I don't mean down to the level of knowing passwords, but IPs and email I would like to know and have easily obtainable access. Maybe put a "disclaimer" or short note, that even though the email is hidden to other members, the email address is not hidden from admin and/or some of the staff. As admin, I don't feel the need. We're adults. I have no reason to contact my members through an outside source. PMs suffice. There is nothing I can do in an email that I can't through a PM. I can see the need for ProBoards to have the information. But no one else unless the individual wants it that way. It should remain their choice. It's their information to share ~ or not ~ with who they choose. The option of "hide" should be available.

As I had stated in an earlier post which you may have missed, I am using the email addresses as member verification rolled over from another group. I want to compare emails from a known member list to my "unknown" member list in the forum. Right, we are adults and I don't have intentions to abuse the list. Some of my members of the forum are not [acting like] adults hence the need for verification. You may not have or feel the need for your specific situation, however, I do.

I can understand your situation ~ but it doesn't change the fact that in the end, it should still be the user's discretion. I'm not saying to take the option away. It's a great feature. I'm simply saying that the member should decide for themselves what they want shown. Adding "hide" isn't a big deal. With so many throw away email accounts available, they can be changed as frequently as one wants. If someone's behavior is less than stellar, it doesn't matter if their email is legit, it is their actions that will warrant action, not the legitimacy of their email.

Ok, I think I've got it figured out. Or at least headed in the correct direction anyway. I've got to stop working on this for a bit and pick it back up tomorrow.

Can someone tell me what the default setting is, meaning is it "email is visible to staff only"? Because members don't necessarily know that their email address is now visible unless they check their profile regularly. They wouldn't know about the option unless we inform them. So if someone could tell me what the default setting is, I'd appreciate it.

I would like to know myself, so I can advise my members to make the appropriate selection of their choosing.
