Another question I know there are some 'new' rules regarding privacy. Or at least rules we must now follow. My question is about the invisible option. I see in my profile that I can 'go invisible' and I assume my members can also. The problem is I don't allow it on my forum as there is no need for it but I have had folks who have done it anyway. In the old version it was a simple matter of letting them know and then changing them to visible myself if they ignored the request. I am the admin and no one but me had the ability to change them from invisible to visible. Now I see that I have no options at all. My only recourse would be to ban the member and that is a pretty drastic step to take. Can someone give me the info regarding this and if maybe I missed something. Thanks again

Greetings,
This is no longer admin editable (as you have observed). Note that you as admin can see everyone online, regardless of their invisible status. If you want to disable the ability to go invisible, this may be possible via a plugin or template code.

Greetings, This is no longer admin editable (as you have observed). Note that you as admin can see everyone online, regardless of their invisible status. If you want to disable the ability to go invisible, this may be possible via a plugin or template code. Thanks for your reply RedBassett. I can see everyone regardless of status, that is no problem. It was the same in v4. Unfortunately I can't be online all the time and this is rather important to me as the only time folks have used the invisible option they have been up to no good. They cause problems which I then have to deal with. However from your reply.. disabling the option would be a very practical solution. Do you know of such a plugin or template code that I could use? Or where I would go to ask for one? Or whatever it is you do to get such a thing? lol I'm not even sure what question to ask. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks again

I do not know of such a plugin, and I can't promise that such a plugin is even within ToS, however you can check the Plugin Database, and if nothing useful is there, you can request a plugin.

Thanks again RedBassett I did find a previous request on page 16 of the requests board you pointed out. For some reason which I do not understand the request was rejected. It is a simple request and there is no reason for it not to be honored. People in the request on page 16 of the request board talk about people having the 'right to be invisible if they want'. In my experience the ones who choose this option are causing trouble on my forum. They do not have the right to do that. I am left with no option but the most drastic. Thanks for your reply. I do appreciate you trying to help.

Assuming that this is the request you are referring to, it looks like ProBoards is considering (or at least suggesting) disabling this feature an invasion of member privacy and rights. As noted here and in that thread, you and staff members with the correct permissions will always be able to see invisible members.

Thanks RedBassett. Yes that is the request I was referring to. I did read it all and no point in arguing but for the record.. it's absurd. People have the right to create mayhem on my board but I don't have the right to stop it. oh well. The fact that I can see them is no help if I'm not there. It would be better if everyone could see who is invisible. Yeah, I know it kinda defeats the purpose of being invisible but at least everyone could see who the troublemakers are. anyway, Thanks again for your help. I'll be back when I have my next question
