My password protected sub forums are wide open, I can't re lock them and I can't even put the board in maintenance mode.

sceadugenga1, I was able to confirm that your password protected boards are indeed prompting me for a password input. Do note that once you've entered a password on a board, it remembers you - from your perspective I understand it may look like the password protection is not functioning, but to someone who hasn't input the password, they won't see the contents of the Last Post column and will indeed receive a password prompt when attempting to access the board. Additionally, I was able to access your admin control panel without issue - is this still a problem?

The Forum doesn't remember my Admin Pass word. I have to go reset it after I log in with a different user. Like I said this is really messed up

dano, is your issue pertinent to the thread's initial issue, password protected boards? If not, please make a separate thread explaining the problem you're having.

Additionally, I was able to access your admin control panel without issue - is this still a problem? I reacted to a complaint from another admin who has issues with v5 and I suspect this is the case. I ran another member name that I created past it and I was allowed in so it may be that the PC remembers the password and allows any member name to access the forum from that PC. The only way to show this would be to use another PC which I am not currently in a position to do but I could not access it as a guest using my iPhone. The iPhone would not accept the other member name's password. I certainly have admin issues though, or I'm totally baffled by the procedure, on the admin map I cannot use the "basic", "standard" "legacy" buttons to upgrade the permissions. Subsequently I cannot put the board in maintenance mode or do things like change passwords.

I ran another member name that I created past it and I was allowed in so it may be that the PC remembers the password and allows any member name to access the forum from that PC. The board password memory is based on browser cache and it checks the user account. This means that if you were input a board password on your admin account and then try it as another user, there should be a prompt for the password. The memory isn't local to your PC - it's local to your browser and account. After inputting the password as a non-admin member, you should be able to log back into your admin account and skip the prompt. You can always use the dropdown menu at the top of the admin panel to navigate, and you change permissions and passwords for a board by going to Categories & Boards and double clicking on that specific board. The basic, standard and legacy buttons are available for anyone who's more familiar with the layout of v4's admin panel, but I do recommend getting acquainted with the dropdown menus at the top. If you're going to learn anything about the admin panel, learn these. Do this by mousing over the Settings dropdown tab and then clicking on Forum Settings. The toggle is in there.

I can get to most of this, the buttons just don't work.
To make sure I'm not having a mental meltdown after the weeks work doing a bit of coding could you give me a step by step instruction on changing the board password? Edit: Maybe that's easy if it's using using the admin's profile, lets set up a new password protected sub forum.
I really think the v5 system is too hard, sure us people who have established forums will persevere but I suspect that a lot of new forum builders will just give up and go elsewhere.

Here's an admin panel snapshot, none of these buttons work.

Ah, yes. That shouldn't be what it looks like. There should be a list of boards on this screen. Seems now like this is a JavaScript issue! To start, can I have you attempt to access your admin control panel through Internet Explorer, if you've got a copy of that on your machine? In addition, do you have any internet security applications that might be blocking the JavaScript from running?

I do too, buddy. I do too. On a serious note, a Java update won't have any effect on JavaScript execution - the two are separate and different.

OK, it's me sceadugenga1 with a new name I created when I had log in problems a while back.
The admin functions are all there using IE... I checked Java was enabled in Firefox and that is OK.

If that's the case, we've narrowed it down to a problem with your copy of Firefox. Perhaps a clearing of your cookies and cache would help the situation?
