Hi, just wondering if you can help? over the last couple of days new members registering on the forum have not been able to gain access and also when i accept their accounts it shows them online, but they can't post! The member score is not increasing too.. i had someone join tonight, and usually it increases by one, and states the newest members name that was pending, but it isn't doing so! would appreciate some help on this matter, only just upgraded to V5 a couple of weeks ago and its great, this problem has only just started and all settings are correct. My forum is www.mk2griftergaz.proboards.com thank you in advance.

Just registered an account on your forum to see if I can replicate the problem. Any chance you could approve it for me? =]

Its gone up a point now as it should, but did not when i tested a moment ago... does the member count stay the same if someone who is already registered tries to come on the forum as a alias??

I have activated you over 5 mins ago, when i click on your name (by the member count) it shows you as online, but you are not on the list of members online... strange.

The 'online' status may be because I was at the login page the entire time, not entirely sure. Either way, haven't yet been able to replicate it - can you confirm that the members in question are fully registered? Appear on the member list etc? Also, at what point are they prevented from posting?

raleighgrifter, I believe you're experiencing an issue we became aware of yesterday where members who sign up with new global accounts go to register forum accounts that end up not updating the member count as they should - did you receive an error popup at all when attempting to approve certain members? Our developers have already ironed out a fix for the problem and it should go live in a few days.

Thanks for your help paul, it may have been a blip when i posted as a tester earlier, as the second posting worked, it seems that david has provided the answer and the new member who registered tonight is on the forum but not on the count and the list at the bottom right of the main board, but is on the actual member list when i click on that! also a message i have sent to said member has been opened proving david's theory to be correct.. i look forward to this being sorted in the next few days, thank you for your help gents..

Hey David Clark, I seem to be having the same problem... I just upgraded my forum yesterday & I had my first new member register since the upgrade. I was at work & approved the pending membership from my phone & there was a popup error, but I didn't really ready what it said, I just tried hitting approve again & it seemed to go through as it didn't show on the pending list anymore. Now that member shows up in my Member List, but it doesn't show up in the Info Center as newest member or update the Member Count. So you say this issue will be fixed soon? Will this fix be automatic, or will I have to do something? Also, when I go to this new member's profile, it doesn't show his email address... they would have to have one to register, correct? And aren't the options for hiding only for other members, but admin should still be able to see it? And, is there a way to make the email address a link the way it was in v4? And lastly... is there a way to make it show in their profile whether or not they've activated their account or not, the way it did in v4? Thanks!!

1. So you say this issue will be fixed soon? Will this fix be automatic, or will I have to do something?2. Also, when I go to this new member's profile, it doesn't show his email address... 3. And, is there a way to make the email address a link the way it was in v4? 4. And lastly... is there a way to make it show in their profile whether or not they've activated their account or not, the way it did in v4? 1. It will take effect automatically. All we need from you is patience and understanding. 2. This is a part of the issue. It should be fine when the fix takes effect. 3. This is possible, but would require some template modification. Feel free to post there for some assistance. 4. I believe users are only required to provide an activation key for registration of either or a forum or global account - showing such a thing in a forum account's profile wouldn't be possible.

Thanks David Clark! I did just got another registration, so I found out what the error message is when I try to approve it. The error pops up & then I can click approve again & it works. The error is: 1. Thanks! I can do that. 2. Great, I hope so! 3. Cool, will do. 4. The reason I had it set in v4 that activation was required, was to help block against spammers from registering - computers wouldn't be easily be able to do this & people who just wanted to spam would be less likely to take all the steps to registered to be able to post spam. So just to verify, the registration process with the global accounts now includes the activation email/key, so I can assume that when I get a new pending registration that they have already verified their email address this way? If so, I guess I don't need to see this status in their profiles. Thanks!

Bug report... when I just tried to insert the smiley face with the tongue sticking out in my post above, it either gave me the same error quoted in that post, or it just puts that box instead of the smiley face. Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm having the same issue with logins, but not with a new member. I upgraded my board today and everything went fine (I just dealt with the error popups since nothing imploded and went on with business..) until I asked one of my players to check and make sure it was all working. She managed to log in after some trouble - the login link reroutes to the main page of the forum no matter what, and we both had to go directly to login.proboards.com to get access. Now she's showing as online but not in the online members list...and she can't log out. I'm guessing this is part of the same issues mentioned above, and if so I'll just wait it out. Everything else is working just fine, though!

So just to verify, the registration process with the global accounts now includes the activation email/key, so I can assume that when I get a new pending registration that they have already verified their email address this way? This is correct. If a user was to click on the "register" link on your v5 forum, the first thing they'd be prompted for is an email address. If it was linked to a global account, it would prompt them for the global account password. If it wasn't linked to a global account, it would guide them through the process of making one with that email address. I think the only instances you'll see of forum accounts with no global account attached is when admins upgrade their forum from v4 to v5 - after this happens the users are prompted upon login to "upgrade" their accounts (in reality they're just registering new global accounts). Bug report... when I just tried to insert the smiley face with the tongue sticking out in my post above, it either gave me the same error quoted in that post, or it just puts that box instead of the smiley face. Any ideas? Thanks! [span style="font-size:10pt;"]1. Thanks! I can do that. :P [/span] This is what I saw when I went in to edit your post. I removed the font formatting and that seemed to bring back our cheeky friend. Now she's showing as online but not in the online members list... That's a side effect of the problems we just dealt with today. Give it some time and the issue will be rectified. Now that's a little weird, I can't say I've heard of that before. If the problem persists, I advise that you have her post here on the support board with a detailed account of the situation.
