small question... can you explain the difference between downloads and installs? I would venture a guess, but then it doesnt make sense that installs is a bigger number...

They literally just reflect the two button options available when you're browsing an item. If someone uses the download link, we currently don't increment the install counter when that file is installed. (Something I'd like to do in the future, though) Similarly, installing the item directly to a forum doesn't increment the downloads count, even though it's technically being "downloaded".

Edit: We like to see the installs number be bigger, as that's the easier/faster method, and in the future will have other benefits (auto-updating, etc.) attached to it.

I wasnt considering someone downloading it once, then installing it on numerous forums (which would account for the discrepancy). Im guessing there isnt a way to know realtime how many forums are running a plugin, but would that be available in the future maybe when the update notifications become reality?

If its all based on the id of the plugin, then perhaps useful information could be that it knows how many sites have the plugin installed, but can also report how many sites have versions older then the one displayed in the library. just a thought.

Alters is listed as using a super key, but it only uses a post key.


Also, another idea to discuss for the future: have it list submitted - but not yet accepted - plugins by the same author. that way it can be checked if something is done and just pending (or if I forget if I have already submitted the plugin I dont submit it again).

Wormopolis - Can you try resubmitting it to the library? Martyn assures me the latest code is currently running on all servers as of earlier today, so I just want to check and make sure that it actually is. (My suspicion is that the code running on your forum hadn't been updated when that .pbp file was exported)

Edit - I'll add your suggestion to the list, I can see that being helpful.

Would auto-updating of plugins be wise? I've known of several occasions where someone prefers an older version of a plugin for it's look or functionality. Maybe just a notification in the Admin Panel that an updated versions are available?

I agree auto-update wouldnt be desired.  just a notification.  especially if say a plugin is updated, but a bug is introduced.  instead of pushing out to all the using forums the bad copy, a fixed version could be reposted and manually updated from there.

Looks like the key counting is now correct. Also, "auto-updating" was just the quickest way of getting the gist across. I can all but guarantee it'll be an admin notification, along the same lines as the reported posts and pending users.

It has been changed.  not sure why it was displaying super-key though.

How often are plugins reviewed for new submissions/updates? I've had an update pending for a few days now.

It would be interesting to have a coming soon section showing what plugins are currently pending approval. like posters at a movie theatre...
