V4 News Fader 1.1.2

My board was changed to V5 today. Right now I'm not ecstatic but I'll deal.

This plugin was my very first install and was happy to see some things from V4 were being brought back. Thank you!

I was wondering if it is possible to have images in the News Fader lines (not the title bar)? Not a background image but something more like a smiley?

Also if I shorten the width of the news fader, how do I then center it?

It really sux that I have to put this in all 70+ themes I have on the board. Why can't it be global and done once to cover all?

Add this to your Main Header:

Plugins are and always have been global. O_o

You should only have to install the plugin and change its settings and it'll work universally on all themes.

Brian, thank you so much for responding.

As for the plugins, I installed the plugin for the news fader but it only affected the skin/theme I was currently in at the time, Snowflake Spectra. When I changed skin/theme to the default one, Calm, the news fader was as it was upon conversion to V5 and the plugin hadn't affect it at all. Clearly, I did something wrong? Any help you can provide in steering me as to how to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks jrryan! I appreciate the input and will try that once I can get the plugin to work properly for all skins/themes on the board. Afternoon Brian,

As stated in my previous post above, which doesn't have a post # on but says 16 hours ago, I was in the skin/theme titled Snowflake Spectra when I installed the plugin and it worked to resize the news fader there but I couldn't get it to center it; just left justify. Anyway, when I then switched skin/them to the default one titled "calm" it was not affected by the plugin. So, to my knowledge the only skin/them that IS affected by the plugin is Snowflake Spectra.

Oh, you're referring to changing its width. You can do that in your Main Header. You don't need to edit every theme for that unless you want it to be a different width on each theme.

Add the bit in green to the existing code.

Oh that worked fabulously! Yay! Thank you. Can you refresh my memory on how to change the font size for the text within the news fader (not the title)? And also to add images such as a smiley or two with the text.

You can add this to the existing stuff between your style tags to change the font size.

#fscroller { font-size: 12px; }

Sorry for being a bit dense. I'll eventually get the hang of this. So where does this <img src="URL TO IMAGE"> get put? Is it in the line of text where I want the smiley to be or in a code like main header? 

And I'm assuming if I want to change the color of the text it would be done with the bracket color = whatever color surrounding the text I want changed?

Hi, Brian. Quick question . . . is it possible to put a bit of padding under the news fader? Right now it looks like it's joined to my list of boards on my main page and I'd like to see a touch of space between it and the list.

How can I just make the font bigger in the news feed and what lines are they in the css, I am new to all of this writing script. and I also notice the speed on the news feed does not work how can I correct that also.

Are you changing the speed in the News Feed page of your admin area or the plugin settings? You need to edit the plugin settings to control the speed of the news fader, as it's impossible to get the speed setting from the admin area since there's nothing on the page to reference.

You can refer to this post on this same page for what to place at the bottom of your style sheet to change the font size:
