BookmarkletsIf you want to test it as a bookmarklet, follow the instructions here... pixeldepth.net/proboards/bookmarklets/bookmarks.html----- A lot of people are put off from upgrading their plugins if the plugin has a lot of settings (i.e autoforms) that the user has changed / added. Not sure when or if there will be support for upgrading a plugin while keeping the settings intact, though I hope there will be. In the mean time, I thought maybe a few of us could put together 2 bookmarklets that members can use to extract the settings, and then import them back. I spent some time today testing things out, and while it's not perfect, it could be a place to start. Not all components are supported yet, and there are a few bugs outport.jsinport.js

This is awesome. I haven't tried it though. Do bookmarklets only work in Firefox, because sadly if I right click to bookmark in Chrome, there is no bookmark option. If it isn't FF only, could you possibly tell me how to do it in Chrome, because I would really love this. Can't believe no one has commented on this already btw, with this being such a big issue I guess it's because the average Joe simply doesn't look in this board. Edit... Never mind, find this: marklets.com/FAQ.aspx#chrome Will give this a try tomorrow after I have had sleep. Will let you know how it turns out

Not sure if this is any better, but the way I was doing it for the Gold Shop plugin is have them alert the data and then overwrite it by having them put the copied data in a user interface spot. Then, they could still add things to it by using concat to combine the new and old JSON strings. It's not quite as simple as using yours, and it's a little hard to edit your old settings, but besides people not knowing how to run the proboards.alert command in the console, I haven't had any problems with it.

Peter, before I test this and be all "oh no it isn't working" (lol), say I am exporting the Monetary Settings, do I need to do the export/import process for ALL tabs separately, or do I just go to one of them and it exports ALL by itself?

Alright excellent. Does (or should) it matter which tab you are on when doing it? Is it best to be on the "About" tab or the first of the settings tabs? I could try multiple ways to see what does or doesn't (if it doesn't) work.

Peter: It doesn't, it just puts the first thing you stored in the auto form.....and it doesn't create new ones automatically. If you try and just create blank ones it just puts a whole ton of the same thing in there. Before: Try 1: Try 2:

Like I said, it's a test and something to work from, and while it worked for me with some plugins that had autoforms, I can't guarantee it will work for every plugin.
I was hoping other coders would jump in on it and help develop it to improve on it.

Am working on improving the autoform stuff, will post back when it's complete so you can test it with your plugin.
