Can you try disabling the sidebar redux plugin, then refresh your home page and see if the drop-down appears. Let me know if it does, then I know what I'm trying to fix.

still not...i moved it above sidebar redux to, disabled it and refreshed. I am going to go down the list and start disabling the other plugins i have and will bet back to you.

I've tried to disable all the ones I thought would be causing it and still not. I've just installed it on my test forum and I don't have sidebar redux there and it works great there so it has to be the sidebar. Shouldn't disabling it though fix it?
for kicks and giggles I installed it on my test board and i still get the smilie management plugin working...i wonder if i need to completely uinstall and then reinstall it on my forum.

Yes, disabling it should fix it..

Do you have different templates on yout live and test forums?

The only template that would be different is the one that moves the shoutbox into the sidebar and that is not being used on my test site.

Todge, I have completely removed the sidebar redux plugin and data, reinstalled the smilie management plugin and it still isn't working.

If the plugin works on your test site with the sidebar redux plugin, but NOT the template to move your shoutbox, then there's a good chance that it's the template on your live site that is breaking the code.

Could you add that template to your test site and see if the plugin then stops working.
